With her black MacBook on its last legs, my sister is going to be getting a new 13" MacBook Air soon. The stock 256GB model includes a 1.8GHz Intel Dual-Core Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 2.8GHz processor and 4GB of (1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM) memory. The build-to-order options are a 2.0GHz Intel Dual-Core Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz and 8GB of RAM for $90 each (Education Store prices). Knowing that processor and memory upgrades aren't possible later on, would either of these options make a big difference in performance? She uses it mostly for Office documents, some CS5 work, streaming video, web browsing and music and is hoping to keep it as her main computer for at least 4 years. Thanks for any input.
Applefilter: I ordered an iPod touch from the official german apple website with an engraved message. Two problems: They messed up the engraving and they left the package with a neighbour even though it explicitely says on the package that this is not allowed. I'm in Germany. What can I do now? Nitpicky question: I'm not real happy with the name of the iTunes section "Audiobooks" - I'm usually using it to stash stand up albums or other stuff that isn't music. I'd like to rename it, something like "Performances." Is there a way I can tweak my (English) language files to make this happen? [more inside]

While on Firefox (12.0) for my Mac (OS 10.5.8) I hit a mail link which caused my Firefox window to open rapidly window on window ad infinitum. It locked up my mac and I couldn't even get to Firefox Preferences/Tools etc without multiple windows opening on top. I force- quit. I restarted and this did not help. I uninstalled an reinstalled and this did not help. It hit about midnight and stupid and tired, I deleted my entire profile....The whole blasted thing in a rash moment. So unlike available articles on Mozilla for retrieving missing/lost/messed with profiles mine is simply bye-bye by my own hand. I emailed Mozilla and got these instructions: "Try to delete the profiles.ini file *http://kb.mozillazine.org/profiles.ini_file *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox" I don't have the ini file in the locations specified nor elsewhere. This link did not seem to help, either. I tried entering a terminal command for Firefox (cannot find page for that now) and no luck. If I click on Firefox, it says "Firefox is already open, only one copy can be in use." (Nothing else is open and I even restarted the computer a few times.) Any ideas? I like Firefox the best and would like to use it. And yes, I was an idiot to delete things so will take appropriate lashings.

MLB GamedayAudioFilter: I subscribe to MLB Gameday Audio. It has the streaming audio component, which I care about, and some replay ticker display thingy, which I don't. I have the audio on at an acceptable level, but then the commercials come on AND THEY'RE SUPER-FUCKING LOUD WHOA NELLY. Is there any sort of damper I can install on my Mac to counter this? Looking for top notch, detailed but fun games to play on an iPod Touch. Games like Tower Defense (Lost Earth) or the Angry Birds series, where you can make progress and pick up from where you left off. Not games like Temple Run/Jetpack Joyride/Robot Unicorn Attack where you start from scratch every time (even if you do get upgrades or badges). I am not really interested in Plants vs Zombies or Tiny Wings for whatever reason.

I am interested in working for Apple as an AppleCare At-Home Advisor. Although the position works from home, the job description states that you must live within 100 miles of certain US cities (e.g. SLC, Columbus) Do they ever hire anyone outside those cities?
