I've replaced an aging iMac with 3 external drives hanging off of it with a Macbook Pro with the same 3 external drives hanging off of it.
The setup also includes a cable modem and a Time Capsule.
Right now the drives are in daisychained Firewire mode.
I'm looking for a way to connect the drives to my wifi network so I can eliminate the need to plug the first drive into the laptop? Staying with Firewire would be nice, but it's not a deal breaker.

Is 200 MB enough? I got an Ipod Touch for my birthday. It does have WiFi access but I don't want to have to run into a cafe every time I need to look something up online. So I'm in the market for a mobile WiFi hotspot and a wireless data plan. The cheapest plans available -- and I'm all about the cheap -- typically offer you c. 200 MB a month.

I have a home network created by a dual-band Airport Extreme router. I have Cat 6 running from the Airport Extreme to a faraway printer where the wireless signal does not reach. Can I use this cable and an older Airport Express to act as a print server and extend my wireless network? If not, is there another device that would provide this function?

Mini displayport to DVI adapter stops 802.11g from working? What?! We have a Macbook5,1 which is plugged into a 21" Dell LCD using the Monoprice mini displayport to DVI adapter. When the displayport is unplugged wireless works perfectly. When it's plugged in, the wireless NIC remains associated to the WAP but there is instant 100% packet loss.

What is the difference between an Apple Airport
Express Base Station, and an Airport
Extreme Base Station? I have a tiny 500-square foot apartment. All I want is to be able to surf the web wirelessly. Can I go with the cheaper Express Base Station? Why is one cheaper than the other (in other words, what can the Extreme do that the Express cannot)?

Sending my music across the room... So I have a 25 year old amp (Technics if it matters) and a record player on the ground floor of one end of my apartment. On the other end, on the second floor, is my computer, which has all my non-vinyl music on it. The music is on an external drive. The computer is an aluminum iMac. Is there a way to get my mp3s to play out of the stereo? Note that at present I have no wireless stuff except a d-link modem and whatever wireless is built into the computer. There are no walls between the computer and the stereo. Please explain it to me as if I was an idiot. A bit more info inside.

I have been living in a small university town outside Prague in the Czech Republic since the summer. I am using my 2006 Apple MacBook MA254LL/A (running 10.5.5) to connect to the internet. However, I have experienced a lot of problems connecting to free wireless internet hotspots. My laptop takes a while to locate the network by scanning, and then either asks for a password or tells me the network is unavailable. I know that my Airport works fine elsewhere, and that the connection usually happens automatically. I will ask one of the workers at the store if there is a password, and the answer is always no. Moreover, I see PC users connecting to the internet without a problem. Does anyone know what the issue is with wireless networking on a Mac in the Czech Republic? [I would post this question to the Apple support forums, but it appears that their new accounts system is down]

Help save my marriage!
Thunderstorm fried our Apple Extreme Base Station (Gigabit), so we need another router. The problem is that 2 of our computers have wireless cards installed, but one, an old 450 mhz G4 does not, so we need something that can handle wireless traffic and Ethernet cable and is less than the $179 Apple Extreme Base station. All of the machines run the latest version of 10.4.
Suggestions? The Base Station was solid, no problems, but I don't want to pay $179 again.

My coworker's Apple Powerbook with Airport Extreme can't use the new D-Link DWL-2100AP. We can see the access point, can see that the access point sees and connects to him, but something about the apple's DHCP or networking config won't pull an IP and also won't work when we set everything manually. Any ideas?

I've got a network in my home - one PC, connected by wire to the router, and one Apple, connected by an Airport card (which I believe is 802.11G). The fastest speed I can get transferring files from one to the other is 2.5MB/s, which seems slow. Am I right, or is this standard?
