I lost hundreds of mp3s when Apple installed their Music app on my iPhone. I thought they were gone but then I realized they're still living on the the original iPod I have kicking around (we're talking the white click-wheel iPod). Help a non-techie seize his last chance to save his long lost musical loves! [more inside]
I need an alternative to iTunes. I just want my music to be sorted by artist, album and song, make playlists and get all of that onto my iPod. I have Windows 10 and my iPod is an older one, appears to be version 2.0.5. I'm willing to pay for this. Please don't suggest Media Monkey, I couldn't figure how to work it and I think it was way too much for my needs.
My old laptop died, and I purchased a new laptop. I was able to recover the purchased songs from my itunes account, and they show up on my new laptop in my itunes library. However, my ipod won't load songs from my itunes library. It will only load the songs I have imported by cd, not the purchases from itunes. Can you help me? [more inside]
I have a 160GB iPod Classic that's a few years old. Over the past few months it's needed to be charged more often. But three days ago, it would'nt charge at all. [more inside]
My Honda Civic is quirky when it comes to playing and controlling an iPod for music or podcasts. I need a method to play lengthy podcasts over my stereo AND to retain the ability to fast-forward and rewind within those podcasts. I have many ways to stream or connect to play audio, but the only way I've found that allows me to fast-forward or rewind is also the one that apparently falls prey to a "known issue", causing me to get a random stereo "crash". I was given a iphone 4s from a relative as a gift. I already have a nice android and thought it would be cool to just use the iphone as a ipod instead of just selling the gift and risk offending them. It came factory reset and stays on a activation screen awaiting a sim card. I can not figure out how to get past this screen and just use it as a device which is fairly easy to do with any android phone. Do I need to "unlock" or "jailbreak" the phone to bypass the sim card need or do I need to buy a sim card just to use it as a ipod with no carrier or phone functionality? Please help and recommend any useful software.
Have looked up what seems like every bit of help for iMessage, but can't get it to work for us. Situation is: I have an iphone 4GS, latest iOS. iMessage is now working, on my own apple account (firstname.lastname@example.org). Have sim with texts and data included. Husband has my old iPhone 3GS, updated software, iMessage will not work. Is on another apple account (email@example.com). Has sim with texts and data included, same network as mine. Bought my son an iPod touch 4th gen, iMessage will not work. On his own apple account (firstname.lastname@example.org) [more inside]
I have a 2nd generation ipod shuffle (the kind that's about 1 inch by 1 1/2 inches and is just a giant clip) which I would like to start using again. However, there is not a single computer nor human in our house which will tolerate iTunes. It's not an option, really; never using the shuffle again will happen before installing iTunes will. I have seen a couple apps on the internet for using this type of shuffle without iTunes, but I haven't found any reviews of them or clear instructions for them. Thus, I am asking y'all. Anybody know a good, easy way to get songs off my vortexbox and onto my little shuffle? I don't need playlists or synching or stats or anything, just the ability to move files from one place to another and listen to them on the shuffle. Thanks! [more inside]
My wonderful iPod, going on nine years now, seems to have finally gotten to the point where I can't fix it anymore. I've replaced the hard drive, battery, hard drive cable, and logic board, and yet all it does is turn on, show the Apple logo, and turn off, repeating over and over. What else could be wrong, and how can I fix it? This is a B&W 4th gen iPod, originally 40 GB.
I am writing some documentation for an app that runs on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. I need a consistant way to refer to these devices and am looking for something better than "iPhone/iPod/iPad". For example: "Hold your iPhone/iPod/iPad's camera so that the QR code is centered in the brackets." I've come up with either "... iPhone/iPod/iPad (referred to as iPhone from here on)" or "IOS device" Anyone have a better idea?
How do you move songs from an iPod to an iPhone? Google is a bit scant on this and when I try to open the iPod as a drive on my PC it doesn't show the files. My Apple Zealot friend says it's like moving music from a cassette to a LP but I say digital is digital and this is another reason why Steve Jobs is a jerk. [more inside]

I have 300gb of music, a house, several Mac laptops, a Mac G5, a router, two iphones, an ipad, and several external HDs where the music is stored. I would like to be able to play music anywhere in my house, control it wirelessly without the laptops and update libraries as well as all my devices with whatever I like anywhere in the house, without having to drag out the external USB HD to plug into various laptops like I do now. I'm willing to buy equipment to let this happen. Bonus if it lets me move movies onto a USB stick to plug into my nifty new tv. Details under the fold. [more inside]
While reading the iPod anniversary post, I remembered that I had a 2nd-gen iPod tucked away. It only has a Firewire port. My Macbook is long retired. If I buy a Firewire to USB adapter, will I be able to use the iPod as a hard disk? (And get the music files off it?) Will it charge the iPod? What is the best adapter (or brand) to buy? [more inside]

I have two kids. Each has an ipod touch. Planning on adding two more to the household (mom and dad). Problem: I created an itunes store ID for each kid. Looking backward, wouldn't it have been smarter to create ONE Apple ID for the family, so I can see what is being purchased? I had a recent breach in my credit card and had several unauthorized purchases from Itunes...having one account might have led me to see this fraud a little sooner. (apart from checking my credit card statement daily) What do you multi-iphone-Touch families do? one account? If the devices all get registered to one account, can one transfer a paid app from one device to another? Will apps already purchased be lost if I consolidate the devices under a different username? Any family Apple device strategies appreciated.
