I want a tablet for reading comics, occasional word processing, and faffing around on the internet. I prioritise screen quality, good input, longevity and low cost. I am not hugely fond of the Apple ecosystem. What do you recommend? [more inside]
So I took a bunch of photos on a trip to Japan and the time and date are wrong on all of them because of a mistaken camera setting. Is there a way to change the metadata for the files somehow all at once instead of one at a time?
My church kids love my Apple Watch, but unfortunately, there isn't a lot of flashy stuff to show them anymore. I need recommendations for an app/game appropriate for 3-5 year olds, so something really really simple like a sound effects board or drawing program. Something with big buttons, lots of colors, and preferably sound effects!
When I was a kid, I read this great young-adult book that had a ghost story set in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Does anyone else remember this? [more inside]
My wired Apple Keyboard keeps shocking me whenever I depress a key for too long (aka any time I type) to the point that I have little sore spots on all my fingertips. The shocks are strong enough that I can hear them through my headphones as soon as the arc makes contact with my fingers. What is going on, and why isn't the issue resolved by grounding myself? I bought an airport express with the sole purpose of letting me play music from my computer. Unfortunately, whenever I do so, within 0-50 minutes, the music starts skipping, and ultimately I get the warning: "An error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device “[DEVICE NAME]”. The host cannot be reached." Any way to reliably fix this? [more inside]
I have a newish iMac and three external hard drives of varying age and corresponding capacity (500 GB, 2 TB, 4 TB). I have ca. 2 TB of music divided between the latter two. What is the best way of backing this up? [more inside]
When I got my iPhone, it came with a Lightning charger cable that went almost a year before I had to hold it at a certain angle in order to keep my iPhone charging. I have bought various replacements on eBay that appeared to be genuine, but got the same problem MUCH quicker with these. Is there anywhere I can get an actual genuine cable that will last, without paying a fortune? [more inside]

The hard drive in my 2011 27" iMac was failing, and has been replaced. It's a 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 and I was told to try recovering the data myself first. But Googling has only left me more confused. Walk me through this? [more inside]

I bought an iPod Touch from a friend, but it was signed into his icloud account, and "find my ipod" was also engaged. The seller apologized, and told me he just signed off the device remotely. But when I try to erase the device, I'm still asked for its Apple password. What now? It's running the current iOs. [more inside]
Hi, My daughter has an I-pod Touch and I have an I-phone 6. I understand that we cannot facetime each other, because we are on "family share" and we have the same e-mail address when we sign into our phone. She is not yet 13. [more inside]
I have a slideshow of 392 photos in iPhoto version 8.1.2. I would like to show these photos tomorrow at a local event where I will have a table/booth but where I will not have electricity. Basically I want a MP3 player that is of good quality and will last a few years. I love the functionality of my old Sansa Clips and would love something similar but better quality. I am willing to spend up to $300. I want multi-book bookmarking, podcast bookmarking, and minimum 10GB of memory, prefer a smallish size (but it's not a dealbreaker), also want a sleep function, I will also be using for music. Thank you all! [more inside]

We just got a 12-inch iPad pro. I want a case that will be compatible with the Apple smart keyboard -- but I'm not crazy about spending $80 for the Apple-branded silicone case on top of the cost of the keyboard and the iPad. Can anybody recommend a third-party case that will protect my iPad, work with the smart keyboard, and not bankrupt me?
My much-loved MacBook Pro 15" (late 2008) logic board is dying. Replacing the laptop is proving complicated. Please help me to understand how people manage their data in a post-HDD world. [more inside]
I'm looking at the MacBook Retina. I see it only has a USB C port. And there is a dongle from Apple that supposedly allows one to hook this thing up to hdmi. Please tell if you have used this because reviews are all over the place. Bonus: is there a dock or hub that has both ethernet AND hdmi? [more inside]

I lost hundreds of mp3s when Apple installed their Music app on my iPhone. I thought they were gone but then I realized they're still living on the the original iPod I have kicking around (we're talking the white click-wheel iPod). Help a non-techie seize his last chance to save his long lost musical loves! [more inside]
I've got a 2011 MBP that I'd like to prep for sale. It's still running Snow Leopard (and I don't have the boot disks.) What's the easiest, most idiot-proof way to wipe it clean so I can sell it? Is it worth going to the Apple Store for this sort of thing?
So, a while back we got an Apple Airport to try to extend Wifi in our apartment. It doesn't really work and I think perhaps I've misunderstood something fundamental about the airport. Help. [more inside]

So I've got a macbook air. There is NOT a ton of room left on it. But somehow a bunch (like 25-30) photos I took were deleted. I'm still not sure how. And I want to restore JUST those photos. But as I understand it, I need to restore the entire library. And I don't have enough room for TWO libraries on this computer. So is it possible to just go back, look for the photos I want, and restore JUST those? If so...how? Latest mac OSX.
So my work uses an old version of Numbers. I ordered a copy off amazon and it doesn't appear to have a serial number...but am I just missing something? [more inside]

I will be reinstalling mac OSX Yosemite because of constant problems with it but I am looking to retain the folders that have been previosuly created to organise my mails. I am using Outlook 2011 as my mail client. Does using: File - Export - selecting outlook for mac data file (.olm), when imported back, retain the previous folder structure that I have used to organise my mails? If not could anyone suggest how I could keep the existing folder organisation? Many thanks!
I've purchased an aftermarket UK "duck head", the plug adapter used with Apple chargers. I have an official Apple one and it includes a replaceable fuse in the adapter. The aftermarket one does not. This will be used in a 12w iPad charger only (without an AC cord), not a laptop charger. Since there is no AC cord, and the charger is an integrated 12w device, is the replaceable fuse required to meet UK regulations? [more inside]
I sold an iPad on eBay and shipped it to the buyer, who then informed me that it's still locked to my wife's Apple ID. Is there any way I could work with the buyer to unlock it remotely, or does he have to send it back to me?
So, my parents have decided to join the rest of us here in the 21st Century and get Internet access and an iPad. As the free technical support of the family, it's fallen on me to get the device up and running and to keep it running. Difficulty level: they do not own a computer. Help me think this through from all angles so I'm not getting daily calls for assistance. [more inside]
I am in the market for a new desktop, and would like an iMac. Wondering if there are other options (read more inside if interested). [more inside]
I have a mid-2013 Macbook Air with 4GB of RAM. It's currently running Mavericks, and I would love to just keep it that way, but more and more software doesn't work with Mavericks. I would update, but I hear so many people who say that 4GB isn't enough and you need at least 8GB to run both Yosemite and El Capitan well and that performance is worse than on Mavericks. [more inside]
Hello hive. A bit of a head scratcher here Suddenly none of my mac devices will connect to the internet on my network. I was working fine earlier This problem is both wired and wirelessly. My macbook air, iphone and ipad None will connect to the internet However my friend is able to connect with his devices. I deleted and re entered DNS address, restarted everything multiple times. Still no prize. My iphone and my ipad both connect to a 3g network no problem. The only thing these devices have in common is my apple ID What do you think?
I have a 3TB Apple HD that I’ve been *ostensibly* using, in conjunction with Time Machine, to back up my data for the past couple of years. I say “ostensibly” because it takes forever and never seems to fully complete. Please help me figure out a new approach. [more inside]
I need an alternative to iTunes. I just want my music to be sorted by artist, album and song, make playlists and get all of that onto my iPod. I have Windows 10 and my iPod is an older one, appears to be version 2.0.5. I'm willing to pay for this. Please don't suggest Media Monkey, I couldn't figure how to work it and I think it was way too much for my needs.
Snowmageddon has started, and now my iPhone 6 won't hold a battery charge. What's going on and how can I remedy this? [more inside]
I love my new iPhone 6S, but I have been experiencing an annoying issue in voice calls. The call randomly cuts out - it's as if my face is coming in contact with the red "end call" icon. I understand that all iPhones from the start have had a "proximity sensor" to prevent this issue, but it seems as if this sensor isn't doing its job. I never had this issue with my previous two iPhones. The software (iOS 9.2) is up to date as of today. Is there a setting I forgot about, or should I take it back to Apple? [more inside]
My 2011 15" MacBook Pro makes occasional "click-clock" sounds when I'm doing things. It sounds like the sound-effect of a radio button being changed or some other innocuous event, but it happens when I'm doing something else in another window (or even on another screen). It's not a sound I ever hear when I'm actually doing something that causes the sound. How can I figure out what it is? [more inside]
I bought an external battery (20800 mAh) for my oldish Macbook Air. But there is one thing I didn't think of: How do I plug my Macbook into an external battery that only has USB outputs?
