Installing Fedora Commons on OS X Mavericks Server

Digital librarians of Metafilter: I am looking for installation and configuration documentation to get Fedora Commons 3.7 up and running on a Mac OS X (Mavericks) server. Surprisingly, my googling has not yet yielded an up-to-date OS X-specific guide. Can anyone point me to such documentation? Or have you installed Fedora Commons on your OS X server, and have any tips? [more inside]

Bizarre Apache/PHP issue.

I have a really weird Apache/PHP problem. Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server, fairly typical webhosting setup. One of our sites returns 404s randomly through the day, typically late at night, but sometimes in the morning. It'll do this for an hour or two and then start working all on it's own. Apache proxy module for RSS/ATOM feeds

I am new to this and need to get this done soon. So I would really appreciate some advice. I am trying to setup a reverse proxy for our intranet and have been playing around with mod_proxy and mod_proxy_html for Apache. It all seems to work on regular html pages fine. But when I get to RSS/ATOM feeds mod_proxy_html does not seem to work. Any advise how can I do it ? I saw there is something called mod_proxy_xml. But not sure it will do the job and I dont have a build setup to quickly build it for Ubuntu. Would really appreciate some tips and pointers. I am sure others have done this already.

automatic blacklisting in load balanced environment

How can we automatically block DOS type attacks in a load balanced environment? We used to have mod_evasive on Apache, but now Apache is behind a a load balancer and so does not see the external IPs. We are manually blacklisting IPs in Shorewall - but would like something on the load balancer to do this automatically on detection. Running Linux, Shorewall, Apache and Pound as load balancer.
