I am an EU resident and have pending IRS tax debt (~$30,000) from when I was a US Resident (until 2011). I was on a payment plan but my finances were difficult for a while and I defaulted on my payments starting in 2013. I have had no communication from the IRS in this time (they have my current contact information). I would like to settle this issue now and be rid of this debt. I would like to request the MeFi community for help regarding two questions I have. [more inside]
I was driving to the airport the other day and wondered - where in the continental United States would you have to live to be furthest from an airport? I'm thinking of an airport with actual major carriers that would connect to other major airports, not a small airstrip or that only has private and charter plane traffic.
I bought an airport express with the sole purpose of letting me play music from my computer. Unfortunately, whenever I do so, within 0-50 minutes, the music starts skipping, and ultimately I get the warning: "An error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device “[DEVICE NAME]”. The host cannot be reached." Any way to reliably fix this? [more inside]

So I have nerve damage in my feet and while I'm able to walk, I have a limit on the total amount of time I can spend on my feet before it becomes excruciating. I'm really tired of taking a wheelchair through airport security, and it's not an option in train stations. I'm looking for recommendations for some kind of device (or possible suitcase) that I could use to get me off my feet. [more inside]
A friend of mine is taking a group of 20 high school kids to Orlando this month. Does anybody know of a good reliable company that will send a driver in a 20-30 seater on time each day to drive them to and from the airport, and around Orlando and surrounding areas while they're there? They're going to all the usual attractions, and all they want is a company that will show up on time, won't kill everyone onboard, won't traffic the students to an international crime ring and won't charge through the nose.
I'm injured but I need to take several international flights this summer, and I'm wondering how I can request special support at the airport to get from gate to gate. Bonus points: some of this travel will be in Russia, so information about how things work there would be much appreciated. [more inside]
I am looking for a hotel in for two nights in Brussels. I have a flight to West Africa on Tuesday, June 7 at 10:25 a.m. so I will need to get to the airport very early. I see that the hotels near the airport generally cost more than those downtown, and aren't necessarily easier to reach. For speed and safety reasons, I'd like to stay at a place that's a direct train or taxi ride away from the airport. [more inside]
What to do/where to stay for 24 hours near Shannon Airport in September. We're two adults flying from the U.S. into Shannon early Sunday morning and need to be back at the airport on Monday to meet with a group of people. Basically, trying to figure out where we should go for the day, spend the night, and (hopefully) something interesting to do on Sunday while we get used to the time change. Transport info would be nice, too.
Weird situation. I have two Mac computers right next to each other. One recognized the wifi on the Airport and logs in no problem. The other sees the network but can’t log in. I’m usually pretty say with these things but no luck resetting airport, running diagnostic tool or rebooting. I’m stumped. only thing I can think of was I used the utility privacy scan and it might have tossed some Finder cache files. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks
So, a while back we got an Apple Airport to try to extend Wifi in our apartment. It doesn't really work and I think perhaps I've misunderstood something fundamental about the airport. Help. [more inside]

Given the flooding today, which route is safest/fastest to get from the airport to UT Austin? Are 71 and 183 moving in the downtown direction?
Any suggestions on what to do outside the secure area of the Charlotte airport? I'd go to the whitewater center nearby, but I think it closes in an hour from now. I'm waiting for a relative to pick me up Relevant: I have a camera and enjoy photography.

I consider myself a fairly savvy traveler yet one who still makes noob mistakes that end up costing me disproportionately in either in time, money, or enjoyment simply because I didn’t know better. Although I’ve gotten better with each trip, it leaves me wondering what easy changes I still have left to make that can boost my travel skills without having to learn them the hard way? Bonus points for recommendations that take advantage of a smart phone! [more inside]
Help me entertain myself in a few airports. Over the next few months, I'll have mid-length (lets' say 3-6 hour) layovers in Doha, Qatar (DOH) and both BOM and DEL in India. Any particular highlights inside these airports? I'm looking for unusual things to do, interesting views of outside or airport-workings, particularly good people-watching, food? If my best option is to park myself with a book and a snack, where should I get the snack, and where should I sit? [more inside]
I'm changing planes in Brussels, on a Monday later in Sept. One flight lands at 11:55, the other takes off at 15:35. My feeling is that I won't have enough time to do anything worthwhile, and I should just bring a book and wait it out. Is that correct? Bonus question: is there anywhere you'd recommend to sit & wait, in or near the airport?
Where is the best place (Boots, WH Smith?) to buy a top up simcard for my AT&T Galaxy S5 on arrival at Gatwick Airport?
I have a Maxtor BlackArmor 250GB external hard drive. I'd like to plug it into my Apple Airport device that serves our house's WiFi. Ultimately, I want to be able to put Plex Media Server on it so we can watch movies and listen to music. How do I make this happen? [more inside]
My fiancé just got his appendix removed and now we're flying to his sister's wedding. (It's been an exciting week.) We leave tomorrow from JFK on Jet Blue and I'm look for advice on navigating the airport with a wheelchair. Will they just have one at the curb? Will I be able to push him or will they insist on having an employee? Any good tricks? Things I might not have though of? Thanks!
I have two questions about flying out of JFK Airport tomorrow. I'm going to take the E subway from Mahattan, then AirTrain to the airport. (1) Earlier this year, at the AirTrain, I paid $1 for a new card and then $5 for an AirTrain ride. This seemed excessive since I already had two MetroCards (my unlimited monthly card and another one), but I couldn't figure out a way around this on the spot. (2) President Obama and his family are on a personal weekend trip in NYC and are apparently going to fly from JFK to DC tomorrow night. Should I expect this to lead to significant delays (in my American Airlines flight to O'Hare) which should affect my planning?
I am taking a family vacation to Cape Cod. I have to pick up my 90 year old grandmother at North Station after arriving at Boston Logan with a family of four. [more inside]
My 2.5 year old toddler is going to be flying for the first time since she was a baby next week. We've been talking to her about it a bit, but I'd love to show her a video that would prepare her for the experience (security, boarding, taking off, landing, etc). I've found a few videos that show the process, but nothing really geared for toddlers.
I have a pair of American Eagle (women's) jeans that I tend to wear while traveling because they're comfortable. I think they're setting off the TSA scanners and metal detectors -- I've been pulled aside and patted down every time I wear them, and not much when I don't. My pockets are clear, and there's no egregious metal on the jeans besides the zipper and buttons. Any idea what might be happening?

In the terminals of a few airports I've been to (CLT, BOS, maybe YYZ?), I have seen screens playing video advertisements on the walls of the terminals that don't look like the typical LCD or plasma TV. They seem to consist of four rectangles arranged 2x2, essentially forming one "screen", with a small gap between each panel. There is no "frame" around each panel like a normal TV - I just appears to be four screens by themselves. Also, the panels appeared unusually bright. The image did not appear to be projected from elsewhere. What are these devices called?

The imperial family and I will be traveling to Mumbai in a couple of weeks. We'll be arriving at a profoundly unfriendly hour of the night with three children 12 & under. We need to get from the airport down to the Fort District without getting taken for a ride, as it were. What do you recommend: Taxi rank at the airport? Reliable car service? Recommendations sought.
Due to a series of unfortunate events, I'll be in the Salt Lake City airport from 4pm-1am today. Is it worth going into SLC from the airport? Anything exciting going on tonight? Anything worth checking out in the airport?

I ran a few luggage bags into the airport terminal for my aging grandmother and ran back out to the curb. Must have been 2 minutes. Airport security waved me away from my car and told me my car was being towed. I just stepped in my car and drove away while security insisted my car was being towed. What does the law say? Will I get a ticket if they've pulled my plates? Am I legally obligated to wait for a tow truck? Am I a fugitive of airport security?
My Airport Extreme (A1143 model) is having issues in our new house. It was built in the 50's so the floor has lots of metal in it due to the plastering of the ceiling below. We get wifi in part of the finished basement but no the whole thing, and even the "good" part drop pretty frequently. [more inside]

On Thanksgiving Wednesday, we'll arrive at the Philadelphia airport, probably at terminal F (US Airways) at 8:15 in the morning. We leave 80 minutes later, probably from terminal B (US Airways, again). No checked luggage, pre-cleared for customs, just pick up bags and run. Given Thanksgiving craziness and picking up the shuttle to C-16 so we stay inside security, is this still doable? When does it become Thanksgiving hectic? [more inside]
If you're flying in to Reagan National Airport in DC with a baby and your own car seat, how do you get a cab to your hotel?
