A dear friend just died back home; I want to fly there (Seattle-Minneapolis round-trip) for the funeral, which will be sometime next week. The exact date hasn't been decided yet, however, and could take a couple of days to get settled. Right now there are some very inexpensive Seattle-Minneapolis air fares, and I don't know how long they'll last. I could just go ahead and buy a ticket for some arbitrary departure/arrival dates, and then change it if needed for a $75 change fee, gambling that in the next few days fares will go up more than $75. For those of you with more experience than I in tracking air fares--would that be a good strategy? Or should I sit tight and hope the fares will hold for a few more days?

Cheapest Flight to Anywhere: I have a large flight credit on Continental Airlines that I need to use with in the next few months. I'd like to find the cheapest ticket for a same day departure/return so that I can get the remaining balance refunded. Is there somewhere I can find all Continental flights originating from Newark, NJ (EWR) over the next few months? Kayak.com is great but I have to know the destination to get the prices.

Ideas for seeking corporate donations of tech equipment and air travel? I'm one of the co-founders of a free arts/tech workshop happening for the first time this August in Serbia. We've already had some modest success getting funding for this through traditional channels, but I also want to approach hardware companies and airlines to see if they can help us.

If I don't care where I'm going, and I want to pay as little as possible for a round-trip ticket (over a few days) what's the best way to do it? I don't need any advance warning where I'm going... I have a year to plan for a flight to Tokyo from the U.S. west coast or central U.S. (preferably DFW) in Sept or Oct 2007. All the fares I'm pulling up as far out as I can go are $800-1050 roundtrip. Is this as good a deal as I can expect to get?

Bestfares.com. Scam or worthwhile deals? Does anybody have experience with bestfares.com? It's a $60 annual membership to get, ostensibly, below "sale" prices on lots of fares. And they look cheap. 'm most interested in airfares only (US + Int'l) and not in cruises, Vegas junkets, or hotels. Is it worth it? Any other hot ideas for actually getting cheap fares to, say, Europe?

Is there a Web site that monitors airline prices and alerts you:
1. When a fare drops to my requested price.
2. When there is an overall drop in an airfare to a particular destination.
This would be similar to Google's news Alerts.
I am looking to fly from Chicago to Orlando that later part of May. I am looking for an airfare around $150.00. Presently the lowest fare I can find is $182.00.

I need to visit a family member in Santa Fe, NM, in less than two weeks. (I live in Miami.) The airfare right now isn't pretty, but I've heard people say that you can get cheaper fares at the last minute. Is this true? Should I hold off buying a ticket?

I am looking for a cheap way to travel from Austin, TX to Huntsville, AL. One-way flights are $200+ on Orbitz. So far Greyhound looks like my best bet at around $60. I received an email from orbitz about getting a $100 flight coupon if I purchased a flight by a certain period of time (I think the end of this month). Well, stupid, I wasn't planning on taking a trip but now my brother is being shipped out and I'd like to visit him, but I trashed the email. It came this week, does anyone happen to have redemption code?

So I appear to be trapped in Paris. Flew to Europe over the holidays for a conference in Berlin, and thought I'd spend a week in Paris and fly out of there instead. British Airways is informing me they'd like about a grand to get me out of Paris, and no less if I take the chunnel up to London to catch the London-SFO leg there. Best option I've found is to try to delay the return flight until I can actually make my way back to Berlin (it's too late now). Still on hold finding out how painful that's going to be. Anyone have any better ideas?

My parents bought lifetime memberships to American Airlines' Admirals Club and Continental's Presidents Club the year I was born. My parent and I have the same name. Can I get away with using their card when I travel alone? Would it be out of the question for a young 20-something to possess such a thing? Does anyone know what information is available on screen to the desk attendants? I know it might be against the rules, but really, what's the worse that could happen?

Airfarefilter. I already know the dates for a trip next August. It's possible to drive (approx 12 hours), and we did drive this year, but it might be nice to fly instead. Clearly its not possible to book flights this far in advance, but starting the search for low fares early should have some advantage. What are some good strategies for finding low airfares and when should I start to implement them?
