I may have made a custom bumper sticker saying "has lying salesmen and bad ratings online" and stuck it on my car's bumper underneath the dealer's name/logo on the car. Someone looking at my car's back bumper might see the message that "(Car Company) of (City)" "has lying salesmen" etc. Is this legal to have on my car? [more inside]

There's an ad for the Chevy Volt in which a male-female couple is driving. The man connects his iPhone to the car, and asks Siri to read his voicemails. He then listens to one and is embarrassed by it. I've looked around, contacted Chevy and even their ad agency, but can't find video of this ad. The ad aired during The Daily Show online around Spring 2014.

Every week (sometimes twice) I get a bag of ads on my doorstep - some mattress place, Lowes, SmartSource. It's litter. It's wasteful. I'm sick of picking it up all the time. It's not mailed; someone is dropping on every doorstep. Is the local newspaper the culprit? How do I get rid of this stuff? [more inside]

I run a small media company with a staff of five (two people on sales, two editors, one social media person). The salespeople have a low salary, high commission salary structure, and advertising deals are generally in the low-mid 5 figure range. Our social media person is interested in getting into sales, or more specifically, getting compensated for introductions that eventually turn into sales. We're happy to accommodate her but have no idea how to structure things. [more inside]

Debating using Twitter ads at the company where I work- you only pay if the ads actually work, according to twitter - only if people follow you, they say. Our question - if it charges per follower, is it per follower who clicked through the ad and ended up clicking follow after being led there by the ad, or does it charge for every single - even organic or gained otherwise - follower you or your company or brand amass during the time the ad is running? This is a very big distinction as far as I am concerned.

Today I installed Ghostery
, which is supposed to flag and block advertising trackers, analytics, and beacons. When I visited my college's homepage I found that the site used the trackers adap.tv and Trade Desk and the beacon Rocket Fuel. This alarmed me. I checked a dozen other college websites. None had any ad trackers. So...why would my school have ad trackers on its website? Am I right to feel a bit creeped out by this?

My company does a lot of trade shows. We've had some complaints that our banner stands either are pain to put up and take down, or that they're not sturdy enough.
What they've requested is a table top display without a light or extra pieces that will travel and set up well. Anybody out there have experience with trade show displays, and have a brand or model that's held up especially well for you?

A fellow aspiring entrepreneur and friend of mine is in desperate need of help. Time is of the essence!
Here's the story:
Two years ago he created his own business that sells custom hand-made clothes and products. He owns a website and is on all of the normal social media. One of his most effective tools to connect with customers is through instagram. He's worked hard over the years to develop a fan base of over 27K followers. Mysteriously, last night this account was hacked. They changed the password, hacked the business email, and have taken control of the brand. This account is the business' main source of revenue and advertisement.
Although he's trademarked the company and taken all the normal preventative measures, the admin. at instagram claims there's nothing they can do to help. Assuming this is true, what are his available options?
Essentially, my friend's ship just got hijacked by some evil bastards and he's going to need a seal team to get it back. [more inside]

All of my clients are asking for this style of animation/screen casting (SFW):
It's the manic screen twisting animation with text and simple images displayed over basic color backgrounds.
I am moderately skilled in After Effects (and own the suite) so I'd love to accommodate them, but I am more accustomed to creating explosions, light sabers and monsters than this kind of stuff. I would like to know if anyone knows of specific online classes or easy to follow tutorials for this specific style/type of animation? I've found many After Effects tutorials, but I'm looking for something specifically geared to creating a video similar to the one posted above.
I am happily prepared to pay for these as I really need to be somewhat proficient in this by early 2014.
Thanks a million!

Recently I haven't been able to read anything on the web without seeing, in the "From the web" or "Related content" sections at the bottom of the page, two disgusting images that trigger my Trypophobia
. I'm not going to link to the articles / images to avoid driving any more traffic to them, but one is an article on the infamous Surinam toad, the other is the one with the image of the person's knees covered in indentations from allegedly having knelt in frozen peas. Both links usually appears with some variation of the heading "You'll never believe what this!"
These images are viscerally disgusting and disturbing to me, and I believe they are of course intended to be in order to drive clicks, and I want to stop seeing them (I see them on average about 3-4 times a day for the last couple of weeks.) I already use AdBlock for Google Chrome, but this doesn't block "sponsored content". Is there anything else I can do?

I was going to write a long explanation of why I want to quit, but really, none of it matters.
I'm a PM in Advertising - I have worked at small agencies and probably never want a long term, real FT gig at a big shop. I would be okay contracting at a place like that. If I decide to quit this job, I will likely do so in favor of a contract, and will likely avoid a real FT gig for some time due to agency burn out (unless I get an offer from a known quantity, which is a possibility but not a certainty). All in all, I'd much rather be without anything to do and the option to do what I'd like instead, rather than where I am now, which is nothing to do and ready to lose my mind. [more inside]

I hear that creators of very popular YouTube videos get paid for advertising. Normally they would welcome this, but I'm curious about what options a person has for keeping ads off their YouTube video, especially in the case where the video has been viewed very many times. Is it possible to keep ads off such a video altogether? And what would an effort to minimize advertising do to a video creator's ability to earn money (from YouTube) by posting videos on YouTube? (I imagine it would destroy it, but I don't know for sure.)

An advertising company called my place of business and basically deceived one of my employees over the phone. Long story short, they made it sound like they were confirming an existing advertisement, rather than making it clear that they were soliciting new business. The charge for the service is $599. The advertising company is located in the state of NY and my business is in OR. I have submitted a complaint through the Better Business Bureau, but we have no resolution yet and the Advertising business in question is holding steady on their position that I owe them the money. I feel that their tactics were deceitful, and we would have never signed up with them if they had made it clear that is what they were trying to do. Since it looks like the BBB route is going to fail, what are my other options?
