How do I get rid of Adobe Acrobat font squares?

When I attempt to Edit Document Text using Acrobat X Pro on a page I often need to alter, all I get are squares in place of the letter/numbers I'm attempting to type. The original font on there is Verdana (screen shot here) and this occurs on both my computers. I have Verdana in my font directory and I'm on Windows 7. Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you amazing at Acrobat Forms? Please help me calculate something!

I'm stumped: A client has a form that evaluates employees, and there's a rating system of 1 through 4 and then the option to say that the question is N/A. I'm all set with adding up the total score based on the rating chosen. However, the client asked if I could add up, separately, how many times "N/A" is selected. I don't know how to tell Acrobat to do that, though it seems so easy. [more inside]

Adobe Acrobat replacement for Mac OS X

Seeking Adobe Acrobat replacement for Mac OS X. I have Acrobat 8 Standard for Windows, which has served me well. But Adobe only offers their "Pro" version for Mac, which costs way more than I want to spend ($450), and it's also more than I need. So I'm looking for an alternative; free is great, but willing to pay for a solid software package. Intuitive and easy-to-use is a big plus. List of features I tend to rely on most in the "More Inside" section. [more inside]

Google Books PDF Files

Why can't PDF files from Google Books downloaded via GooReader be modified in Adobe Acrobat? I need to modify the font size size so these books can be read on my Kindle. My copy of Acrobat Standard will not recognize these Google PDF files as editable. Why does Acrobat not recognize these PDF files?

Acrobat has jumbled my pdfs!

I need to read a series of pdfs tonight - the trouble is, the resolution on them is messed up so as to be nearly illegible. Reading all of these will surely make my eyeballs shrivel up & fall out. With only access to Acrobat Reader, is there anything I can do to increase the readability of these pdfs - a way to change from color to b&w, increase the sharpness - anything? [more inside]

Looking for some color in a black and white world

It seems that I have completely run out of black ink, but I have a new color cartridge in my HP All-in-one printer (F2120). I want to print out pdfs of crossword puzzles that I've downloaded from the internet. The pdfs only utilize black ink. I want to print them out in a color (red, green, blue.. I don't care), so that the puzzle and clues all appear in the same (non-black) color. I'm using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional for Win2k. Is there any easy way to do this? Is it even possible? Have I provided enough info?

PHP and MySQL

Can I automate the creation of PDFs from a large number of Word documents?

Acrobat Filter. In Mac OS 9.2, I regularly create a large number of PDFs from Word files using Distiller 5.0. The problem is, I do this for 30 large files every 10 days, and must manually first create .ps files, and then distill them. The process takes more than 1 hour, during which I must open Each Word file to .ps "print" it. Short of buying a new copy of Acrobat for $300 and/or an OS X computer, is there any way to automate this process?

Is there a script put a directory full of jpgs into one single pdf?

PDF question. I have a directory full of jpgs, each is a scanned page of a book and each is numbered sequentially (001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpg ...). I want to convert it to a single document. I don't want to open the first image and then import and append each successive page. Is there a script to do this? I have both acrobat and ghostscript. Any pdf gurus here?

What is a good way to convert complicated HTML to image or PDF?

I'm looking for a way to convert some fairly visually complicated HTML to image or PDF. I've tried HTMLDOC, pdfcreator and Adobe Acrobat Pro but they all have HTML rendering glitches that are hard to troubleshoot. I'd love to be able to use the Mozilla renderer for this. Any ideas?

Does Adobe Acrobat 5 work with Mac OS 9.x? If so, where can I buy it?

I need a version of Adobe Acrobat to encode pdf files that will work on Mac OS 9.x. From what I've googled so far, that seems to be Adobe Acrobat 5, but when I go to the websites listed, I can't seem to find tech specs/product reviews that confirm that it actually works in Mac OS 9.x machines. Does anyone have any familiarity with this product and can you confirm that it does actually work in Mac OS 9.x systems? Even better, do you have a source from which I can buy a new, full edition? Price is not necessarily an object....
