I've just arrived in Spain and my iPhone wont access the internet even though it recognizes the hotel's WiFi network. My Apple Air laptop works just fine with this same wifi network. Why isn't my iphone enabling safari or email access on the iPhone? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Our companies IT department can proxy into my computer from1500 miles away and see what I have on it and make changes etc. How does this work? Is it a software program or more a matter of them identifying their computer with the same information (you know, that number that all computers have , their address?) as mine?

I have a three person Mac OS X office where we need to have remote access to about 4GB of files. I have looked around extensively for a solution and so far have not found an acceptable one. We have tried to use Back to my Mac and Apple Remote Desktop but the other two users are not that technically adept and it seem too complicated for them. Out problem is further complicated by the fact that we sometimes access the same files, so we can have version problems as well. Back to my Mac has never worked period. Could I use Amazon S3 storage? And manage with Subversion or Git? Are there reasonable clients for Subversion and Git. Drobo with network card seem over the top and too costly. Having the files on the cloud would be a perfect solution, however a local solution that could be accessed from anywhere will work as well. To further complicate we are thinking of having one person access via PC.

I am at a new job with restricted internet access. They have a list of white listed sites, but no one seems to know what sites are on the list, and I can't ask anyone because the company uses a third party solution and their website doesn't have a list of the sites.. Is there a program that will determine what sites are on the white list by brute force?

So I created an Access database in order to manage the printing of postcards. I need to send out postcards to people on a monthly basis to remind them about an upcoming meeting. I used the Label wizard in Access to create a report that I can use over and over. I am also using the Avery 5389 postcard paper stock. This stock should print two postcards per 8.5x11 sheet. When I look at the print preview the first page looks correct, with 2 sets of data top and bottom. When I print preview (or print) from the second page on, only one postcard, the top one, is printing per page. WTF is going on with Access? [more inside]

I want to make a dictionary database of words, where I can query part of speech, spelling patterns, pronunciation patterns, number of syllables, definitions, etc. Is Access best for this? Or are there other smaller, free applications you would suggest? Ideally I would like a lot of control over query output layout. Ease of use is important. (I never felt Access was so user-friendly [maybe that's true of all databases in general], but I'm a whiz at Excel. Unfortunately, using XL as a DB isn't very pretty.)
