How to maximize my chances of getting an AT&T iPhone tomorrow?

Mefite New Yorkers, lend me your ears! And thoughts. I'm interested in getting an iPhone 6 tomorrow (AT&T) but not sure where to go to maximize my chances of getting one. Definitely going to avoid the Apple stores, so I'm thinking AT&T stores are my best shot. Thoughts on the best place to get a phone? Better to go to midtown near work? Or stay on the Upper West Side (where I live) and try one of the stores around here?

Switching to T-Mobile in NYC

I have been impressed by T-Mobile's innovative new plans (offering things like unlimited data, international data included, no lock-in, wifi calling, etc) and am tempted to switch from AT&T. I live in NYC and don't travel much within the USA. If I do, it is generally to other big cities. I am wondering if any other Mefites have experience switching from AT&T to T-Mobile or if they can shed light on the general T-Mobile experience. I am grandfathered into an old AT&T plan that no longer exists, so I am somewhat hesitant to switch. That being said, it seems that I would save something like $20/month with T-Mobile. Thanks.

Internet's having issues--some sites load, some don't.

My internet (AT&T DSL) got weird a few hours ago this morning, and is still struggling. I went through a long list of stuff with a tech, who is sending out a new modem. Here's what's happening. What's the least awful ISP in Chicago?

I'm trying to set up internet service at my apartment. AT&T's downstream is abysmally bad for what they charge – 3 mbps for a lousy $30 per month. Comcast is better, but possibly more evil, and there are a lot of confusing legal riders in the contract that make me scared. Help! [more inside]

Possible to get 'loss of business' damages from At&t?

Recently At&t mistakenly shut off my business's internet for 6 days. One of the many techs we spoke to said they shut it down due to a new order for Fake Name, who is another tenant in our building. After some back and forth I received a letter stating that a $3k claim investigation had been initiated. Today I got a message saying the claim was denied b/c they don't do 'loss of business' damages, and that my account has been credited for the $120 cost of one month's internet. I have not responded yet. So I'm wondering - do they reeeally not do loss of business damages, or is there some way to push it with them? If I say 'this is unacceptable' to enough reps, will I get transferred to a magical department where they would actually consider such a claim?

Mobile Wifi hotspots, options and experience?

I am plotting a trip to a part of the US with poor internet and bad cell coverage. One location where I will be staying shows as within AT&T's 4G LTE data service area. A recent trip to SF demonstrated some limitations of my current cell data plan, which is Straight Talk month-to-month (sublease on AT&T network, shows signs of being stepped on by AT&T in terms of speed and responsiveness for data). Straight Talk excludes tethering altogether and has a non-4G data puck available. Given my negative experience with ST data in SF, I am looking askance at the ST puck. [more inside]

Unlocking an old AT&T iPhone

The spouse and I upgraded from an iPhone4 and 4s on AT&T to newer iPhones on AT&T. Then someone mentioned we can sell the old phones on ebay, but to be sure and unlock them first, as they're worth more that way. But the old phones are no longer are active phones and AT&T is refusing or can't unlock them. Is there any way to unlock (but not jailbreak) an old iPhone 4 and 4s on the AT&T network that are no longer active as phones?

New monthly Plan for old iPhone 3GS

Are AT&T data plans for iPad still month to month, or is it a contract?

The original promise of the data plans for an iPad was that they were not a long term contract, but rather something you could use for a month or two, disable / cancel for a few months and then activate again as you needed it. You also would not have overage charges as running into the limit would just disable your account until you upped the plan. Is that still the case? [more inside]

AT&T left its utility box unlocked and doorless--how do I contact them?

Need help finding contact information to discuss a utility box AT&T has on my easement. Looks like the last tech that was here forgot to put the door back on and lock it (padlock is locked on the ground). I couldn't get it back on myself because of a back injury. Now it is pouring rain and I've been searching for the right number to call for over an hour on their labyrinthine website. I would feel very bad if the neighborhood lost service due to this. :) I have tried calling the main line and it is of no use, they don't know who to send me to. Does anyone else here have a box on their property? It was already there when I bought the house. What department should I ask for when I call them or is there a direct line for "box hosts" like me?

Want iphone carrier suggestions

I got an IPhone so that I can play games while at dialysis to pass the time with. I chose AT&T because GSM network friendly phone can be unlocked and used on ANY GSM network carriers. I got mine unlocked and currently using a Simple Mobile plan which gives unlimited voice/text/data for only $40. A Verizon unlocked Iphone can only be used with international GSM networks (see this link explaining that: GSM Iphone vs CDMA. So that was the reasoning on choosing ATT. My unexpected dilemma is GSM (ATT, TMobile, Simple) does not work at my dialysis center. And I get spotty signal at work depending what part of the building I am in. So I just don't get calls when at dialysis or work. I have to forward the calls to my work phone. [more inside]

Ideas for iphone plan...

Another iPhone question. My iPhone 4S was included in the severance when I left my job a couple of months ago (that is, I was allowed to buy it for a reduced price). I was offered the option to "assume billing responsibility" but let the deadline pass - partly out of laziness and partly because I suspect the company hadn't paid the bill and wanted to pass it on to me. What's my best option for using my iphone at this point? It'd be nice to keep the number but not a huge cost if I don't. I'd be happy to go pre-paid rather than a contract. I use text and data a lot more than voice. I occasionally send and receive international texts. I also have a google voice number and would be happy to be able to link with that, or even use that number exclusively.
