These may be from books, legends, stories, video games, advertisements, comics, really whatever... I've always wanted to be able to paint so over the last year I've taken a couple of oil painting courses. It seems now that I can paint well enough that people are asking about buying my work and one person wants to try to get me into galleries he knows. Wow!
That's where I get stuck. How on earth do I come up with a price? Do I ask them to make me an offer? Are there resources for this kind of thing? Has anyone on here done this? What did you charge?

The illustrations have already been drawn on card stock and inked, for an actual, physical project inspired by
this kind of handmade "star book" design... but now it's time to tackle the lettering.
Are there any good, professional ways of doing it without hand lettering everything? If so, can you link to examples / tutorials? Or is hand lettering the only good option available? (Scanning the illustrations, adding lettering, and reprinting is not an option.)

I'm moving into a new apartment and want to decorate my walls with some art. I really don't have anything in mind, and I thought a good way to help me decide might be to find art coming from sources where the purchase benefits a good cause. Maybe something like art made from students where the purchase goes towards the school, or something else where the money I spend ends up doing more than just going to the art store or website I buy it from. Really open to any ideas here. I'm in NYC if that helps.

Technically I live in Parker, CO. Friends and others have started buying my digital art doodles that I print locally on glossy cardstock. I've seen some artists have digital canvas prints but not sure where to go for a reasonable rate as I want quality but don't have a lot of money. I'm not even sure how it is done but have the CMYK files at a good resolution and am ready to go. I would like to try a few and see if I can sell them. Thanks for your time. It is nice for people to like what I draw but I want to give the best quality as it is not yet a living but a hobby.

I work for a non-profit organization. We applied for, and received, a grant to commission original artwork for our building. We chose an artist who proposed a mural. The contract is signed with the agency that is providing the grant, and work is set to start on the building soon. Problem is? One of the members of the Board found a very similar mural online, painted by a different person. Help.

I feel I've seen this mixed media work, possibly at a museum. Four squares mounted in a 2x2 grid: one square is a mirror, one is a piece of wood, one is stretched canvas, and one is metal -- a take on the four elements. Googling is not helpful. I'm possibly not remembering the materials, number, or arrangement exactly, but I'm almost sure the components are squares, and one of them is a mirror. Sound familiar? There are very likely multiple variants of the same idea; I'll be happy if you could point out any of them.

So basically I need to swap out all the art on several websites with photos of California that we have the rights to use in perpetuity (as well as for print). I realize there's the "buy one at a time from Getty" avenue but I have neither the time or resources for that. What I need is a boatload of pics that I can use for commercial use that are all OF California (as well as some general use pics, graphics and art). A very big collection that I can hand to an intern so they can get swapping.
I think in the old days you used to just be able to buy a CD-rom of images. Can you still do that? Are there full collections with hundreds of pics? Or are there any free collections that anyone knows about that are just public use for this purpose? My budget for this is not high (no more than a couple hundred bucks) so I'm open to any options possible.

When I was in college, over a decade ago, I purchased an art print that I liked but I now no longer have. It looked pre-Raphaelite (at least I thought it did). What I remember of the painting is: a woman floating in a body of water with her hands tied (I think), a halo floating beside her, and in the background on a bridge there is a man (I think he's an archer) in shadow. No, the painting is not Ophelia by Sir John Everett Millais. I bought Ophelia at the same art faire. Anyone know of the painting or the artist?

I agreed a long time ago to do pose for a Centerfold with two of my best girlfriends in the school's 'alternative newspaper'. It's done as a foldout section in the middle pages of the paper, and we pretty much have full artistic control over it. I wanted to do something dynamic and avant garde because in the past, nobody has really taken advantage of the opportunity, and it's just been a lot of posing with dumb inanimate objects held over the crotch, or in the library, or standing around outside. I want to revitalize the genre. And I need your help!

Ironically, I have a master's in studio arts, but have not read a lot about single works of art/art movements. I have a litany of art history books that cover broad timelines and genres of art, and I have read extensively on theories of making and artist statements, but I'd like to read books that focus on single works of art in the context of world history that will not bore me to tears.
For example,
Picasso's War is about his masterpiece
Guernica and how it came to be. Another example is
Hitler and the Power of Aesthetics that discusses Hitler's art seriously. I'd like to read more books like this. I am interested in all forms of visual art; sculpture, painting, photography, etc. I'm looking specifically for books about a single work of art and its importance in the context of world history, or a how a movement of art fits into a world context.

My goal is to get up to speed -- and then keep up with -- the art, design, architecture, and fashion scenes in Stockholm. I moved here recently and am curious if people can recommend galleries, museums, and anything else I should follow for interesting shows, interesting new artists, speaker tours, that sort of thing, ideally relating to the above, but I'm also open to anything else :) In a bigger city like London or NY there are obvious tons of galleries and museums that constantly have great exhibits...I don't expect Stockholm to be at that level, but people always talk about "Swedish design" and I am curious to get into it, as well as art and architecture. I realize that leaves it open but mainly I care about galleries, museums, and other spaces where innovative creation is being displayed, and less about the medium (though architecture, photography, and haute cotoure type fashion are three specific interests...though you wouldn't know it from how I dress :). I think this question is a bit rambly but hopefully the "spirit" of it was conveyed.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Ok, I know this is vague, especially since there is no plot. I've been trying to remember a children's book about art. I'm pretty sure it was published by the Museum of Modern Art and most likely in the late 1980s to early 1990s. The book had an artwork for every letter of the alphabet, for instance "D is for Dance" paired with

I have a large (but not terribly heavy) wooden shield that I'd like to hang. Yesterday I used two eye screws, wrapped wire around the handle, and tried to suspend it.

Unfortunately there's no stud, it needs to hang in a very specific location, and the eye screws were too short. To be honest it was a little sub-par as a solution anyway. All the grip clamps (like you'd use to hang a broom) at the hardware store are either too big or too small.
How would you mount this? With the handle on the back, the piece extends about four inches from the wall. I'm willing to trudge back out into the frozen wasteland and hit up the hardware store again, but not if I don't have to. Thank you!
