Self Help Skills/Teen ADHD Version

This year in my special education classes, I have a handful of 15/16 year olds who have the most severe ADHD I've ever seen. What can I do to help these kids learn to help themselves? I modify their assignments and the classroom to help them (yoga ball chairs, etc.) but I want to teach them how to live with this. Adults with knowledge of ADHD -- what hacks work for you? Seeking: Boston-area psychiatric care; a treatment plan; hope

I have a pile of treatment-resistant psychiatric symptoms, a long list of possible diagnoses given to me by different doctors over the years (including various mood disorders, ADHD, autism, and borderline personality disorder), and nearly a decade's worth of history with different psychiatrists trying different med combos with limited success. I want a knowledgeable professional who is a good diagnostician and listens well to help me dig through this shit and work out a treatment plan that makes sense. Can you recommend someone like that in the Boston area? [more inside]

ADHD meds - stop or continue?

I've been on and off ADHD meds since I was first diagnosed about 5 years ago. Most recently I tried Adderall XR; previously I've tried Concerta, Vyvanse, and Straterra (one at a time). Straterra is awful - made me drowsy during the day and kept me from sleeping at night. The other drugs all help me focus, but they also make me feel frazzled and exhausted if I take them continuously - so I have to take a drug holiday on the weekend. [more inside]

Never have enough to do - selling point in interview?

I have been working in offices for about ten years now and have yet to have a single job in which I did not have copious amounts of free time. Spiraling downward through medication changes, insomnia, and nausea

I am a 40-something woman who was diagnosed with Bipolar II and ADHD about a decade ago. I have also suffered from chronic insomnia throughout my life, more so as I get older. Up until recently, I was able to find an acceptable sort of holding pattern through both talk therapy and medications, but a recent change of meds has sent me into a horrible, months-long insomnia, followed by a nervous collapse, followed by days of nausea and painful indigestion. I saw a doctor last week and I am going to see him again in the next few days, but I wanted see if anyone can tell me A) why I my body is acting this way, B) what I might be able to do to mitigate my situation, and C) how I might explain to my work why I am so indisposed from a confluence of individually benign ailments.
