I injured myself last fall... by falling. On my head. I now can't do one aspect of my high-stress job (and it's questionable if I can even do my job fully), even after my employer has been more than reasonable with allowing me time to recover. We're usually pretty well-insulated from the attention of our sharp-clawed HR people and very frightening lawyers, but they're involved now. I can read the EEOC website as well as the next person with a skull fracture, but what does this stuff actually mean?

Are there any grants available for public high schools to make their facilities (specifically the auditorium) handicapped and wheelchair-accessible? I've been told that there might be federal funds available for this purpose but I don't know where to start looking. We're in New Jersey, could there be
state funds for the same purpose?

I am looking for examples of well designed, accessible websites. Specifically, those that feature font size and color scheme tools, but are still aesthetically pleasing (at least in their default state). Our specific audience has disabilities such as dyslexia, ADHD, vision impairment, etc.; the client in question is a school.

Time frame: Does it matter when you ask for accommodations under the ADA? Two weeks in, I brought a doctor's note to the manager of my new job. He wanted to know if I had asked for accommodations when I was hired. I hadn't, because I didn't know the job would aggravate my condition. I had thought I would just try it and see. Anyway, he told me I had to go to HR and fill paperwork out. Do you have to ask at the time you're hired? (Why would I ask for accommodations if everything seemed fine at the time?) Thanks in advance.

You're taking a public speaking class at a college located in the U.S. The instructor advises the class that glasses are not to be worn when making a speech, because the audience needs to be able to see the speaker's eyes. The problem with this directive is that you cannot read anything, at any size, without your glasses, and you don't have/can't wear contacts. What would you do?
(A student attending a school in the U.S., which gets the usual accredited university /federal funds/Pheaa and student loans etc., is facing this situation.)

I need to find an ADA-compliant webmail interface. I'd prefer a free option that will allow POP3 and (preferrably) IMAP access. Hotmail is not an option since they no longer allow access to external POP boxes and Yahoo is out because of spam. Any suggestions?
