I am sort of familiar with CBT and ACT. I like the concepts of both, but I find when I would use CBT I would get into a shouting match with myself. I am thinking ACT would be better for myself, but I want to have confident thoughts also through CBT. I was wondering if anyone had luck intertwining both? IF you can mix both? I may need to look more into the two. I do not know all the techniques yet, but just wanted to hear some opinions. Thanks

Recently I was reading a book by Joseph Campbell called "
The Hero with a Thousand Faces" which goes into how the "
mono-myth" pattern serves as the underlying structure for most Western movies (think Star Wars, The Matrix, ...). I would love to learn more about alternative story arcs and dramatic structures (like the famous three-act structure), with examples from famous films.
Any comprehensive resources, blogs, articles, anything?

Act! database vs. Daylite?
I used Act forever & loved the fact i could keep notes per company & then look up companies by Co. name, first name, last name, city, state, or other custom tag i classified them as.
I used ACT when i had my PC.... but for the past 3 years i've been on a Macbook Pro and only using Daylite... which i hate. I can't look up by anything other than Company name or contact name....
I need a new database contact program that is similar to ACT in the regards of how I can look up each company & allowing me under notes (or something) to keep track of my conversations. I'd also like it to sync up with my iphone 5.

I am a technology specialist for a large public school district. In my school, I am a "prep" teacher. Classes come to me, the teacher leaves, and I have them for 50 minutes. Last year, for various reasons, I developed a phobia of being alone in charge of 25-30 kids by myself. I kept seeing danger to them and being unable to help.
I took a leave from the middle of April through the end of the year. I tried to get an ELL position; that's my other license. ELL is small group and/or co-teaching and I would be just fine returning to it.

I've been using ACT 2000 and just upgraded to Sage ACT 2011, however, I don't see the "SideACT" function which I used a lot to maintain to-do lists.
Does Sage ACT 2011 have SideACT or something similar?

I'm interested in starting an after-school ACT test prep program for the high school students that I work with.
I'm not an educator, so I don't have a clue where to start. What are the best techniques, from start to finish to organizing and operating a successful group test preparation workshop? How can I help my students acquire the techniques they need to do well on the test?

I live in Oregon, and our elections are all vote-by-mail. In an effort to get out the vote, there are organizations (like ACT) accepting ballots all over Portland. There's a lone man with a Kerry sign outside my apartment complex accepting ballots who seems to have no organizational affiliation whatsoever. Does anyone know any non-confrontational ways to make sure he's legit? more inside...
