I'm trying to remember the name of a band, among whose defining aesthetic characteristics was the prominent use of a band-wide? uniform including white pants and/or a white belt. Probably 80s? Maybe New Wave? [more inside]

I'm usually the dude that answers questions like this, but for the life of me, I can't remember the title of the film. It was early-mid 80's, possibly a TV Movie, where two "righteous dudes" are kidnapped and brought to this town that looks eerily like small town Kansas circa 1950. It turns out that this city is a training ground for Soviet sleeper agents, and the dudes were kidnapped to update the training program. In the end, the dudes lead an escape from the town back to America.

In the early 80s, I was browsing the magazines at a local grocery store and found a humor magazine that had a parody of People Weekly -- called Peephole Weekly here -- as either its front or back cover. What magazine was this? Bonus points for a date of publication. [more inside]

YoutubeFilter: help me find a video online. I want to find a clip-from any movie out there-of the standard, cliche "new guy in New York seeing the sites with a huge grin" montage. The sort of thing that is in films from the 80s like Crocodile Dundee, where you see a tourist/hillbilly seeing the city for the first time, set to some poppy, uptempo soundtrack music. HELP!

I am looking for music that evokes the spirit of nostalgic, 70s-80s-era, variety show, Saturday morning cartoon, vintage game show-style aesthetics, like The Go! Team
or...umm -- well, anything that sounds like TG!T really, then.

Does anyone remember the name of the 80s soccer coin-op arcade machine? It was of a similar size to a Gauntlet box, was up to four player and was a world cup type tournament. Sort of cartoon-y / manga-lite type of players; and my overriding memory of it is the scissor / bicycle kick. If it then exists in a PC/PS2/ROM collection so much the better! Thanks all.

In a month or so I'll be going to a pretty epic 80's themed college party. I need ideas for a costume/ where to get it. I've read up on some websites with suggestions, but I figured metafilter would have better taste.
I am a thin white male. I am willing to pay up to $100 but would prefer less than that. I want it to be something Ic an dance in.
Any suggestions on what to wear or where to get it?

I am trying to remember the name/artist of an 80s music video. In it, the guy wore a glowing (bluescreen/transparent) suit and stumbled across the nighttime countryside while singing mournfully and freaking people out. It was kind of creepy, at the end he dissipates in a glow like an alien/angel while the scowling townsfolk converge on him. British artist, possibly Ned or Nick something. Anyone able to help me find this?

Looking for New Wave movies. No, not the French New Wave. Movies from the 80s and beyond that were significantly influence by New Wave music, including using the music on their soundtrack and having characters that were New Wavers. Some punk crossover is fine.

I've been looking for an old CD my parents used to play when I was little, caled "here come the hits", but it doesn't seem to be anywhere visible. In fact, it seems to have dropped out of existence entirely; I can't even find a tracklisting on the internet so I can gather the songs from other sources.
I know "shout" by tears for fears was one of the songs, and "black cars look better in the shade" and "one night in bangkok" are likely contenders. Can somebody help me find an official tracklist for this album of 80's one-hit-wonders so I can get some closure?

What are some good 70's and 80's songs suitable for playing in a pharmacy?
My father owns a family pharmacy and we have an iPod with nice 70's and 80's songs set to play for the customers. Can you tell me some that I can add to the playlist? Remember nice calm easy listening ones are best, and no dirty or bad songs about dying etc.. To get an idea of some of the songs I have here's a link
to the playlist so far.
Specific songs are great, but I will also take artists. Try not to give duplicates. If 10 people give 10 songs that's 100 new songs! Thanks!
