I just picked up an Apple Airport Extreme and am attempting to integrate it into my home network, and my old router is jealous. My intent is to use the Airport to serve IP addresses to all my devices via DHCP, and use its wireless capabilities for my 802.11g computers (looking forward to 802.11n). I've pressed my old Linksys WRT54G into use providing wireless access to my 802.11b devices (2 wifi Internet radios), to isolate them from dragging down the .g devices' wireless access speeds. Netstumbler with SDIO on a HP 6515. I want to buy a SDIO 802.11g card for my HP 6515 and wanted to know if anyone has good/bad experiences or suggestions. There are several cards available - something low power and capable of cracking WEP would be bonus.
Thanks!

Why are my wireless routers flakey? I have a Comcast cable modem, which I use with a wireless router to create both wired and wireless networks. I have tried 3 (!) different wireless (802.11b/g, WEP) routers (Belkin F5D7230-4, Netgear WGR614, Apple Airport Extreme). In each case, the wired connection has been stable, but the wireless signal periodically disappears without warning. It's not just an interference issue, because power-cycling the router fixes it immediately.

802.11g cards that work well in Linux. What has worked for you (and under what kernel)? Is there any advantage in getting a card with a native driver instead of using ndiswrapper? Do they speak successfully to both G and B access points? Even better if the card is available in both PCMCIA and PCI.

One of the things I like most about my iBook is that the wireless adapter is internal and doesn't protrude from the system. Does anyone know of a PCMCIA 802.11b (or g) WiFi adapter for a PC laptop that doesn't protrude beyond the PC card slot?
