Hello. I am trying to locate a few recordings by obscure indie new wave bands that got stuck in my head in the 80's that I've been trying and failing to locate ever since. I have no idea the names of the bands or artists that recorded the songs, but hopefully I can provide enough information that someone who is familiar with them can identify them. The songs are "Genghis Khan," "Watch out Franco," and "Heart of a Boxer." [more inside]

What is this song: slow, dreamy synth song with programmed drum beats that played, in the last year or so, over a commercial that I believe
featured a beach and was perhaps on MTV? [more inside]

I'm looking for a book I read as a pre-teen. It's been years since I read it and I can't recall the name of the writer, or the title of the work. I recall a little of the plot, but not much.
As far as I recall, it was about a girl living in a small town in the east coast who falls into a pit, or cave, something like that, and is saved by a man made of earth and stone. [more inside]

Catchiest pop songs from 1977-1983? I was born too late to grow up with this music, and it was never played on the classic rock stations my parents would listen to. I'm discovering great songs that I've only had a vague awareness of, such as What a fool believes
, Private Eyes
and love the syncopated rhythm and catchy melodies. Would you recommend some others?

My fiancee and I are getting married in a month. I LOVE 80's music and want to hear a lot of it at the reception. I am not a dance-a-holic by any stretch of the imagination. So I come to ask the hivemind: How do you dance to awesome 80's songs? [more inside]

I need help identifying a movie or TV show I saw as a child. It was sometime in the early to mid 80's, on late night, network tv, may have involved some kind of martial arts or Chuck Norris style badassery, and the most important detail that has disturbed me for the longest time was a scene where the protagonist faces off with the bad guys and the main bad guy gets all creepy and says something like "I want your other eye." Sketchy details below. [more inside]

Help me figure out what movie this is:
I'm pretty sure it's from the 80's and there's a scene where a bunch of young adults are sitting around a cabin drinking and singing "I Want to Hold Your Hand" when they're attacked by a lion.
Thats all I've got!

Ok! What was the name of the show. It involved two guys, one in his late 20's, incredibly handsome, looked like the blond guy from Dukes of Hazzard only with brown hair, and he wore like a Gulliver's Travel get up, (he may have been from another time in the past) with a wine colored velvet laced up vest, billowing white shirt, and his sidekick was this super dorky teenager 14-18? and they would go on time travels together, and narrowly avoid tricky situations. It was usually shown on weekend afternoons, but it could have had a regular time slot in prime time. Racking my brain! Thanks for your help!

Around 1984-85, about the time that "19" and "World Destruction" came out, MTV put in strong rotation a similar themed song. The video showed two guys, one white, one black singing about the proliferation of weapons while dancing with shopping carts full of guns and ammo.
What was the name of the song? Who were those guys?

Idle nostalgic curiosity is driving me crazy - looking for at least the name (at best, a working version) of a late 80s/early 90s DOS (not arcade) 2-d ninja game - very simple, and the most notable characteristic is that the entire game was in uber-simple orange-red-green VGA palette colors against a black background. TV FILTER: I am looking for the name of a 70s-80s home repair/gardening TV show, and the female host's name. I used to watch the show, in syndication, on local Seattle TV in the early 80s. I believe the show was made in Canada, but maybe the US. The hostess was a thin woman with light brown hair and the shows premise was that she was a housewife working on her house and garden while the husband was away. They had a dog. She would have sections on the show showing how to pot plants, change light bulbs, grout tile, etc....>

I'm looking for a photo of a Wendy's Jazz Cap, or even just first-hand recollections of them. These were apparently some type of multicolored painter's cap sold at Wendy's establishments in the late 80's(possibly 1988ish). There seems to be no trace of their existence online. Phone calls to the Wendy's Customer Service hotline have come back with a "try eBay" response. A few good but ultimately fruitless tries to track one down can be found on the comments to my blog
. Any information, photos, or recollections would be very much appreciated.

Need a movie id. I saw it in the 80's and the plot was that the U.S.S.R. had created an "Anytown, USA" and kidnapped some americans to populate it with to study/observe. I thought it was titled "Back in the U.S.S.R." but alas the one on IMDB is not it.

I just found a big box of old Playboys that cover dates from the mid sixties to the early eighties. I got to reading them (clothed) and you know what? Everything I've ever heard about how good the articles are is true!
I'm sure they still have hot babes, what I'm asking is are they still writing these great, edgy articles about culture and politics, or are they basically FHM now? I mean these magazines have articles from everyone from Andy Warhol to P.G Wodehouse for chrissakes. [more inside]

Lost 80's song...I can't find this one anywhere: "400 Dragons" by Adrian John Loveridge. Not in iTunes, peer-to-peer, or ebay. (The closest I found with that name was by someone called Band of Thieves)(??)
Any song with the line "...send ten thousand Venus invaders and I'd shoot them all down for one night of your love" has *got* to be a keeper! I appreciate any direction someone could point me in!

Obscure 80's tune--been looking for an answer for years! I used to be a DJ, and play a track by a guy who *sounded* like Springsteen. (Trust me, this wasn't Bruce) The only thing I have to go on is partial lyrics: "...what's it gonna be tonight? Red wine, maybe white. And if we're gonna fight, then we're gonna fight...(something something) down on the corner..."
I *think* the name of the track was "On the Corner". (No, not CCR!) [more inside]

I have a question for those who were teenagers in the 1980's, I'm doing a presentation with a group and my part is generational persona of teens relating to safety (how safe did the avg teen feel?), reckless behavior (how did teens rebel, or get into trouble?) and individualism (Did teens clump themselves into cliques and groups, or did they feel the need to succumb to a particular 'look'was it accepted to be unique and individualistic?)
