I've been running since 2007, and since then I've run three half marathons and several 10 milers/10k/5ks and what have you. Over the years my speed and abilities have increased, but boredom has set in and my motivation is lacking, especially when it comes to long distance running. I think I want to transition to doing short distances and speedwork, but I'm not sure what I should focus on.

Help me feel oriented and prepared for my upcoming race? I'm a 44-year-old overweight woman getting in better shape, starting to lose weight, and starting running. After working with a personal trainer over the winter, I worked up to running a mile for probably the first time in my life.

My wife has organized a 5k as a fundraiser for her school. The event website lists it as the
"First Annual" race. She got a nitpicky email chastising her her about it, complaining that it should be the
"Inaugural" race. What do you think, and how should she respond?

I manage a small non-profit in New Jersey, and are looking for someone to manage a 5K race for us next year. I am looking for: 1) about how much this would cost us; and 2) for any suggestions of businesses that do this kind of work in the area. Thanks!

I am looking for a 5k route to run in the Raleigh, NC, area. I'm willing to drive up to 45 minutes to get to a decent running route. Can you share a good route with me?

I just signed up for a 5K on Dec. 3. I'm certainly not ready to RUN 3.1 miles, so I'm going to walk it (and the event is called a run/walk, so it is a walker-friendly race, at least). What kind of training can I do before then to do my best that day, since there's barely any time left? I'm at a healthy weight and in OK shape but usually only exercise one or two times a week. I'd like my time to be under one hour, if possible. Tips? (Bonus question: are most 5Ks walker-friendly?)

Are there other graduated exercise programs like the Couch to 5K? I hate running, but I like the specificity, and the feeling of "leveling up" it gives me.

I’m not a runner, but I want to run a 5K once, for my 40th birthday, in 2 months. I need to train, but I don’t
like running, and want to do as little of it as possible.
