My friend's mom is trying to find a play that might be called "1601." Probably has as characters: Queen Elizabeth I, Sir Walter Raleigh, Shakespeare. She read it in the late 1960's, and it was full of many fart jokes, sexual allusions, etc. Was supposed to be set in Queen Elizabeth's drawing room...

Help me identify this book? Hardback, with illustrations of towns & shops; lots of detail, kind of cartoony, escalators & stairs crossing. 1960s/70s? Know it's not much to go on, but it's all he gave me. Have at it guys.

Tell me about growing up in a small town in the 50s: I'm looking for books, articles, memoirs, interviews, etc that describe or detail growing up in a single industry town in American Rust Belt the late 50s. Ideally I'm looking for stories in places like Braddock or Centralia, mill or mine towns located in the Central Pennsylvania-ish area.

I'm looking for a video of an Italian vespa commercial from the early 60s (probably aired on the show
Carosello), which featured the scooters driven by the boys and all the girls sitting side-saddle behind them. It had snappy music that was punctuated every few seconds by the single lyric "Ves-PA!" (The commercial I'm looking for
isn't this one... It was instead made earlier and the kids should be dressed more formally.) Can you help me find it?? Thanks!!

I have been watching the AMC series
Mad Men (set in NYC office setting around 1960) and it made me wonder. Just how accurately does it portray the professional workplace of the period? (Ubiquitous smoking, drinking, degrading comments to women and overt flirting, etc.). In particular, was it ever considered normal to keep a stocked bar in every office/conference room?
I realize things are exaggerated for TV and to contrast with today’s norms... but generally speaking was it really this bad back then? I guess I am looking for responses from those who are familiar with the TV show and worked in an office in this timeframe.

Anyone know
this song? Sorry, I only have that excerpt.) Sounds like a 1960s folk-pop tune. In case you don't feel like downloading it, the lyrics are along these lines:
I gotta get the world off my back / Pretty soon I'm gonna crack / so I gotta get the world offa my back somehow ... I grew up and looked around me and I saw that the world was in a mess / thousands of hungry people, children starving in wars, injustice, and everybody kept picking on me ...
I had no luck searching with the lyrics online. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Great energy is put into determining if a font used in a TV show or movie is
historically appropriate. (Arial, an '80s font used in Mad Men, a show set in the '60s?
Gadzooks!) But how does a designer make decisions in the opposite direction? If you've got a product set in the '60s, how do you know what font's to use?
