Is there a utility that will let me save my screen layout?

Every morning, when I hook my mac up to my external display at work, I have to spend a little bit re-arranging all my active application windows where I want them. Is there some sort of utility that would let me save the layout?
I have no answer, but I second the question. I had to revert to matching the resolution of the display to the laptop, a terrible waste of the beauty of the display.

I'd try VirtueDesktops or another virtual desktop manager (I linked to a MacUpdate page so you can quickly jump to searching for other applications).
Virtual desktops are usually used to keep a single monitor's windows organized to your liking, but they might also be a useful concept for keeping "sets" of windows over multiple monitors, too.
I think virtual desktops of some sort will be a built-in feature in the next version of OS X, in case you start looking at shareware you have to pay for.
