Training opportunities?

I need suggestions for tech-related training or conferences that I could attend sometime this summer or fall, in the continental US, preferably on the West Coast.

I work at a (NYC) computer forensics firm as an internal developer and have some money to spend on training for this calendar year. However, I've never done this sort of thing before, and it's kinda hard to search blindly, considering the number of tech-related events held yearly.

My specific, immediate job concerns building an internal (non-public) Web application, using Python, so the most fitting training/conference topics would be for Python or general Web development (e.g. advanced CSS/JavaScript).

However, since I'm technically an all-around R&D position, and my personal interests in computing range far and wide, just about anything even tangentially related to my job might work, so this would include such things as security, databases, and Linux. Note that some specific popular topics along these lines--like MySQL or PHP--wouldn't really work since I don't use them much (instead favoring PostgreSQL and Python).

I already have a small list, including an 'advanced Python' 3-day course in San Francisco, and conferences like OSCON, USENIX, and (I doubt my boss would go for this one) Apple's WWDC. I'm looking for others, and as stated above I'd like to take this as an opportunity to travel to the West Coast for the first time, although that's not a requirement.
