Online RSS Aggregator Recommendations? Netvibes, Pageflakes, etc...

My blog addiction has forced me to figure out how to use feeds. I've been using Netvibes for the last week (it's scary to see how many blogs you read all spread out on one page) but I'm aware that there are many other similar pages. Pageflakes looks interesting but doesn't seem to work with the Opera browser.

The more I look at these aggregator sites with there various features the more they come to resemble Portals. Should I just set up a nice Google homepage instead?

Basically I'm trying to find out what you Mefites consider to be the best online aggregators that work with Opera.

I actually use my paid LiveJournal account to do this. You can created LiveJournal RSS feed accounts and drop them on your friends list. I personaly like this because it aggreagates all of my blogs into my own customizable interface, and I can feed any RSS feed into LJ and then just have all of the blogs I'm interested in come up as new posts there in one spot.

If Google homepage lets you do that, then more power to ya. :)

You can also use Bloglines to aggregate these as well: http://bloglines.com

If you don't want to do that, you could just do what I do for those blogs I don't want feeding into my friends list on LJ. In Firefox I simply have a "Blogs" folder in my Bookmarks Toolbar Folder with blogs I want to read. Then I select "open in tabs" and WOOSH, I have every page start opening for my enjoyment. :)

The post mookieproof points to is pretty Firefox-centric so that leaves me out. I use Opera mainly because it has really good page scaling for my stupidly high res laptop screen. Firefox will scale up the text nicely but not the page as a whole.

I'm not liking the Bloglines interface, I'll have to take a look at LiveJournal. Pageflakes looks really sweet but again not Opera friendly. Hopefully Opera v. 9 will fix that or Firefox will improve its scaling.

Other options?

There are *a lot* of options out there, and it feel like a new one pops up everyday or so. I think it's too early to figure out a clear winner. Personally I use netvibes and am pretty happy with it as my home page.

Worth noting, both My Yahoo and My MSN support adding feeds. (I tried out the My MSN version and it was easy to set up, but it felt like my Netvibes page refreshes more often.)

Are they Opera friendly? I'm not sure. I use Firefox.

I've been using feedlounge since it launched. It's very desktopy and netnewswireish. Not free though ($5/month).

It's pretty nice overall, a little slow, but much better than when they first launched.

I've been using feed on feeds for the last year or two, and I like it. Needs your own host with PHP and MySQL.

Newsgator is by far the best online rss aggregator I've used--and I 've tried a few.

Google reader, while clean and ajaxy, did not have enough features, Rojo had too many.

I gave Bloglines a shot for a while, but again, it lacked features I wanted. And I think it's ugly (not the most important thing here, I know) and a pain to navigate.

I'm really into my feeds (42 and counting!), which is why I'm so picky about my aggregator. And there are so many out there, why shouldn't I be able to find one with all the features I want?

I'm sticking with Newsgator. Until something better comes along.

Opera actually has a built-in reader: http://www.opera.com/products/desktop/m2/rss/index.dml

I use Bloglines. In fact I saw this post on Bloglines when reading the Ask Metafilter feed which seemed very meta.

I love News Alloy - "tagging, pinning, river of news and folder-based viewing, easy digg and del.icio.us submission, keyboard shortcuts, and good search capabilities": what more could you want??

There are almost too many options available. I think I'll stick with Netvibes for now. I'm liking its freeform dragNdrop layout. I really like that there's no account signup involved. Practically every other service seems to require setting up an account before you can even see what the 'product' looks like. That's really annoying.

I wonder if there's a feed devoted to aggregators. We may need one just to keep track of them all.

Another vote for Bloglines. Reliable, flexible, free. Dunno if it works in Opera though.
