I am in receipt of a brief paragraph of text in Finnish (~35 words, posted inside) that I need to translate to English. I've tried using various online translator tools, but I suspect it might be too laden with OFFENSIVE DRUNKEN PROFANITY (just a contextual hunch) for them to make heads or tails of it. Can anyone recommend a translator that might handle it, or (better yet) are any Finnish speakers lurking who might be so kind as to interpret?

We have a Chrysler Airtemp A/C unit (more than 20 years old) that's gone on the fritz 2 days before we're scheduled to be away for 2 weeks. Although it's in the 80's outside, about 6 inches of frost has formed on the rubber-insulated tube next to the outside unit. There's condensation all along the line that runs through the basement to unit where the fan and the copper tubing are located. The latter is also covered with frost but is now melting since I've turned things off at thermostat. The fan will only work if it's set to manual. I've called a repairman and he's suppose to come tomorrow. In the meantime is there any way for me to determine on my own if this is a catastrophic breakdown that will require a new unit or if it's possible for me to do something on my own to get the thing going?

HELP me with this movie title PLEASE! As a child, I saw a black-and-white horror movie about a woman who lived in a house on top of a cliff. Her fiance fell off the cliff and died. She had a mirror at the end of a hallway. Whenever she looked at it, she was still young and beautiful. Many years later, she smashed the mirror and instantly aged and died. It gave me many nightmares back in the day (we had a full-length mirror at the end of a hall and I was terrified to look at it), but today I would love to see it again. After many unsuccessful Internet searches, I fear that y'all are my last hope. PLEASE HELP. Thanks!

I got my wife a nose piercing for her birthday. She'd really wanted it for a long time, and I became a one-cooler husband.
Trouble now, is that she's developed an infection right next to the piercing – a fairly visible dark bulbous spot. She's tried a few things including Tea Tree oil, which does help reduce, but not eliminate the infection.
This has now been going on for about a month and she's getting really upset that it won't go away (I can't blame her). I don't want her to regret getting the piercing because I think it's a really cool thing that she's done (a real stretch for her), and pretty sexy too.
Any suggestions on getting rid of this infection?

I'm replacing two (2) toilet seals, because there is a strong urine smell in both bathrooms, in an older house--more than can be accounted for by the poor aim of my six and nine-year-olds. We have seen water pooled at the base of one toilet.
I have seen waxless rings, but I have also seen (the last time I googled this when we lived in another house) a waxless ring of sorts that was quite a bit longer than the standard waxless ring. Does anyone know what I am talking about and if they work? I am hesitant to try wax again because of the mess and relative difficulty. Thanks for your help with this banal question.

Essentially I want Apache to point to a directory that corresponds to the domain name which will contain the file home.nsf, and make that request on port 81. Any mod_rewrite gurus out there? I am using lots of academic materials as sources, and generally I simply mention the source in the text when I am quoting directly - or summarizing an original idea contained in the source (I use footnotes when the attribution requires more info and interrupts the flow of the story I am telling.)
I am, of course, especially concerned with the issue of plagiarism - I am keeping my notes tidy, attributing as above, and otherwise following the various rules I've read in the different handbooks for academic writing I've studied.
But here are two questions....

I'm trying to remember a joke I heard or read a while back. It's kind of a long joke where a man gets a phone call about some bad news, like his dog is dead or his wife is hurt. The man tells the guy to do certain things in response, and with each offered response, more bad news comes. I believe the joke is golf related. Does anyone know what the hell I'm talking about?

More specifically - I'm looking for the kind of bold clip art (thick lines) or logo-type of art associated or signifying with each of the following: Shawnee, Lakotas, Iroquois, Ojibwe, Cahokia, Cherokee - animal art is fine as well. Are there any symbols of the same type of art that might relate to law or justice??. Am I looking for something that doesn't exist? Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Why is it so difficult for us to follow patently useful advice from a neutral (i.e., presumably objective) source (i.e., so NOT advice from someone we have a personal connection to)?
To keep things simple, consider the advice in cliched proverbs like "Haste makes waste" or "Neither a borrower nor a lender be" (Polonious to Hamlet). The "wisdom" embodied in these maxims is obvious, and yet we all rush, and we all borrow/lend, and later regret it.
Not just proverbial advice, but ALL advice is difficult to follow. Why?
Knowing of these difficulties, how is it possible for those offering advice to frame/formulate the advice in a form most likely to be followed?
I don't think there's a simple answer here, leads and speculations much appreciated!

I have one of those help me figure out this vaguely remembered movie questions. I would be so happy if someone got this but since I was around ten years old or so when I saw it, I have my doubts. Here goes - I remember that there were three guys as the main characters. They were something like secret agents. (For some reason I have one of them looking like Richard Dawson from the opening credits of Hogan's Heroes. They all wore that kind of outfit). They were on a mission to some island that was run by a mysterious man and woman. There was a castle or haunted house on the island. They had to uncover some mystery on this island. The one part I remember clearly was a scene where they kept hearing a baby cry during the night and then there was a scene where they discovered some secret room on the basement of the castle/haunted house. I'm guessing the movie was made in the late sixteies early seventies. Any ideas? All help greatly appreciated. ( I have had other half remembered movies that I have been able to find using Google or IMBD, but this one has eluded me)

Vet emergency? This morning I noticed that my cat was squinting one of his eyes a little bit, but just a little bit. I thought maybe he accidently got hit in the eye, either by the other cat or something else.
I was gone most of the afternoon but now that I'm back it is definitely worse. His eye is mostly closed now and the second eyelid is visible (so it looks white) in the corner (by the nose). Also, it's a little bit wet on the fur on the upper part of his eye and it looks a little runny in the corner.
I'd try to take a picture but the eye is mostly closed and I'm not quick enough before he shuts it again.
Is this something that might be worth it to go to the emergency vet? Any idea how much a trip like that might cost?

From my limited travelling, and eating, I've seen the same. It's always savoury(s) first, with the sweet being a kinda optional extra at the end if you're lucky.

#2 Are there any cuisines where the sweet part is normally the major element of the meal?
#3 And is there any good reason why sweet foods are not the bulk/all of our meals?

What could the most likely culprit be? I can't get it to stay on long enough to do any testing.

It looks like (but might change) that I'm heading up to Boston next weekend - actually I'll be just outside of Boston before the weekend, and likely downtown over the weekend.. I'll have a rental car at my disposal...what do to?

Why are my wireless routers flakey? I have a Comcast cable modem, which I use with a wireless router to create both wired and wireless networks. I have tried 3 (!) different wireless (802.11b/g, WEP) routers (Belkin F5D7230-4, Netgear WGR614, Apple Airport Extreme). In each case, the wired connection has been stable, but the wireless signal periodically disappears without warning. It's not just an interference issue, because power-cycling the router fixes it immediately.

Okay - Small claims question here - maybe the MeFi legal eagles can help me out...
Business A is sued by Business B is small claims court in the state of Idaho. Plaintiff, (Business B) doesn't bother to show up to the trial. Plaintiff's case is marked "dismissed with prejudice" on judgement.
Business B has subsequently refiled the same case with the same court. Not appealed, but simply filed again.
The court clerks are unable to clarify whether this is an oversight on their part (allowing business B to file the case again) or if it's even legal to do so. They can however, verify that this is not filed as an appeal of the original case. Clerk intends to confer with original Judge next week.
Thoughts?

I volunteer with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) patients, specifically with communication issues. I am working with a specific man who is extremely bright and engaged and I am trying to find some solutions to problems we have. He has a
head tracking device to move the mouse and has no problems clicking, right-clicking, etc. But he does have problems with one issue right now: iTunes. I’m also looking for general suggestions to make life easier for him.

could there actually be a
reason why so many of the bad drivers in the 'hoods around here make a particularly dangerous move so often: left-turns from the far-right lane, and vice versa?

I am a school-based speech pathologist with a long list of kids to schedule. They are best grouped by a) grade and 2) type of impairment. Each kid needs one or two half-hour appointment(s) per week. They are scattered across separate classes with various schedules, each with preferred, acceptable, and unacceptable blocks of time in which I can see them. Free or low-cost scheduling app?

What's the best and least expensive way to setup a zoned audio system for my house -- MUZAK for the home -- with up to five different music channels playing in different rooms of the house. Preferably without having to wire the place. So wireless.

I've found each of the questions I have separately on MeFi, but I was hoping that someone will have a huge, big conglomerated answer to my many questions that all essentially lead to a better, happier, more productive and fulfilling life overall.

I get spam text messages from Us Weekly magazine on my phone that I guarantee I did not sign up for. T-Mobile won't block messages from the number they come from. How do I get myself off the list? I don't care who cheated on whom, especially since I'm getting charged for each text message they send.
