I read a book sometime in elementary school (early/mid 90's) that I've been trying to find. It had to do with geometry and math and platonic solids and origami (I believe there were several nods to Flatland). The plot had something about evil army men toys and a boy having a fever dream. I think the cover had a picture of the boy riding a manta ray.

I have been training seriously for about 1 month now. I am 28, 5'11" and weigh about 240 (lots of flubber.) I have noticed that I am putting on good amounts of muscle and adding good strength as well (the beginner effect I guess), as well as losing inches of my waist. I am hoping for a little help with my program and supplementation.

So that later, I can return to give my work a good editing without caring about how it looks on the first draft?

I tutor several people in a "Mathematics for the Social Sciences" course at a local university. This semester the material is focused on matrix algebra. For the most part, they have no trouble wrapping their heads around the notions of basic vector operations, row reduction, systems of equations, inverse matrices and determinants. But, they have a lot of problems with more abstract concepts such as linear independence, subspaces, basis and dimension. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on helping them visualize and understand these ideas more clearly.

Last night all was fine when I sat down. When I got up twenty minutes later I began to walk and it felt like there was a wad of gum under the ball of my foot. I checked and under the callous at the distal end of my first metatarsal it is visibly swollen. The area is nearly a quarter inch thicker than the same area on my other foot. The area is not painful, but the shear size of it makes me walk funny. I'll go to the Dr. on Monday, but until then, does anyone have any ideas about what it can be? Googling hasn't given me any clues.

He had a red-blood-cell count of 8% and was prescribed dioxycycline (to get rid of any possible infections causing the anemia) and prednisone (to suppress the immune system, preventing destruction of the few remaining red blood cells the poor guy has). Questions: Any experiences with feline anemia? Prognoses? Advice? Anything will help! Thanks!

Not when DID you start dating or not, but when did you feel in your heart that you were ready to date. And was sealing custody/alimony deals a part of this, i.e. did you need this stuff nailed down before you felt ready to "start a new life." And did you feel like you needed a second adolescence after the divorce, whether that meant going wild, or just spending a lot of time doing whatever you wanted, without having to consider someone else's feelings/schedule.

I've been watching
BBS: The Documentary and just finished the "scene" episode. I was struck in particular by
Metalhead / Shaggy from iCE. He seemed much, much cooler (my standards, obviously. I also liked Jed from ACiD) than anyone else interviewed. I was kind of into ansi art and demo stuff in high school and college (though not as a participant) and it was refreshing to hear someone kind of deflate the hubris surrounding it. I'd like to see what he's up to now, if anything, but google is failing me. Current work. Websites. Even just his real name.

I am buying a condo and was supposed to close escrow and move in Tuesday at 5pm (yesterday). The lender backed out 1 week before that because of a lawsuit, and we had to get a new lender. We were assured by our realestate agent and our broker that there would be no issues.
In the meantime, we gave our 30 day notice at our apt. and started to pack. NOW escrow isn't supposed to close for another week and we still have to move. We have to pay out of pocket for a hotel, or day to day lease on our apartment. This isn't cheap. Can we, should we, and who will compensate us?

I'm looking for a famous old photograph. I can see it in my mind but don't know what its title is. It's possible it's by Henri Cartier-Bresson, but maybe not. The photo is taken from inside an art gallery, and through the window can be seen a middle aged man and woman. The woman is saying something to the man about a painting that's in front of them, but the man is peeking sideways at another painting that depicts a nude woman. I love this photo, I think it sums up so much of human experience in one image. Also, I remember that this photo is part of a series of photos depicting the reactions of different people (including children and a cop) to the nude painting. I'm sure someone out there will know the title and photographer. Thank you!

I am considering moving to Santa Cruz for a Ph.D program. I visited the city for 4 days last week and really enjoyed the area. Everyone I have talked to mentions how expensive it is. It is true that housing is extremely expensive, renting too. But, I didn't find the food in the grocery stores to be outrageous, eating out wasn't terrible either. Unless I'm missing something, its the housing which gives the city its stigma for being expensive. Plus, there are 140 Ph.D students at UCSC which obviously make ends meet in some way (albeit poor college student life isn't too bad). Am I close to correct here? Also, I'd love to know what you think of the area!!

My 8 year old Border Collie mix has been experiencing weakness in his hind legs recently. He often doesn't have the strength to jump up on the couch or the bed. He doesn't seem to be in any acute pain, but he's reluctant to walk long distances (more than 100 yards.) He's in good spirits, and shows no urinary or bowel incontinence. He doesn't knuckle under when he walks, but does turn his feet out. When he stands, his hind legs splay out. Does this sound familiar to anyone??

license plate filter: I moved from PA (back to) to Tx several months ago. I switched my car insurance back to Tx. My plates back to Tx. My title back to Tx. My driver's license back to Tx. Everything is Tx. When I got my license plate switched from PA to TX the person at the office said they didn't need the PA plates. Now I'm getting nasty letters from PA saying I have to have PA insurance or I must send the plates and window stickers back. The plates are packed away in boxes. The window stickers were thrown away when I got my Tx inspection. My question is, since they have to know I no longer have the car in PA with the Tx title and insurance, what happens if I don't send the PA plates back? I've tried to call them twice but each time after being on hold more than 15 minutes I hung up. I can unpack boxes and get the plates to mail back but if I don't have to I'd rather save my money that I'd spend on sending them back. Plus there is the issue that the window stickers were thrown away. Anyone been in this situation?

I am a 38-year-old man who has many good qualities (I hope so at least) but two drawbacks which understandably be dealbreakers for most women - I am impotent and I have a small penis (around 4 inches on the rare occasions it is erect), so even if my impotence got treated I am not sure I could satisfy a women. On the other hand, I have heard that it's possible to have satisfactory sex life with a 3 inch penis, but have no idea how that can be. So basically I am what would be a figure of ridicule for many other men, and not exactly a strong candidate to be a boyfriend for most women either.
However I know some women while still heterosexual may not want a sexual partner e.g. they may be celibate for whatever reason. And there may even be women who will overlook a sex life without penetrative sex for the right person. I have just come out of a four-year relationship which had lots of affection and companionship but not strong feelings of passion and obviously no sex, but I eventually want another relationship again and believe I have a lot of love to give the right person. How can I find her?
