just take out the cheese/butter/milk and replace with a generic ice cream base? miss ginsu tends to have good ice cream advice. sounds tasty. posted by genmonster at 7:57 PM on August 19, 2008
Not sure what you mean....Do you wish to make carrot halwa flavored ice cream or something else ? Perhaps you could elaborate. Halwa (of any kind) is meant to be eaten and best enjoyed hot though. But you can always eat it WITH ice cream. I do and love it! posted by sk381 at 8:04 PM on August 19, 2008
I'd probably try to find a recipe for something like ricotta ice cream, and then add in the spices and carrot-pistachio mixture after the initial churn. posted by oneirodynia at 10:08 PM on August 19, 2008
Having never made the recipe myself it is tough to say.
I second the notion to start with a good ice cream base (Im sure you can find one with ricotta, but dont go low fat!) and add the rest of the seasoned ingredients to the freezing mixture. Rather than adding the last 6 T of butter, I would add more heavy cream. Good ice cream is not lightweight! posted by kenbennedy at 9:30 AM on August 20, 2008
