Help me get the boy to the Park

MBTA-Filter: In need of some hotel recommendations in the Boston area that are close to the Green-Line

I am finally bringing my boy to Fenway, but of course, neglected to do any real planning, as when I normally go up, it's a day trip from North Jersey, since he's 5, I'm already pushing it to see if he'd sit for a full game, let alone the 8h round trip in the same day... Since none of the hotels right by the park are available, I thought it'd be neat for him to ride the T.. he loves trains and such. Can someone recommend a hotel within walking distance to the Green Line T? Something that's not the roach motel would be preferable.

Alternately, does anyone think I'd actually be able to get a parking space at riverside at 11a or so on a sunday (8/31) gameday?

Tnx

A Sunday game? You won't have any problem finding a spot at Riverside.

There are a number of bed and breakfasts in Brookline. I stayed at the Bertram Inn which I thought was nice. It is a 10 minute walk to Coolidge Corner Station on the Green Line. Not the same branch as Fenway Station, though.

Not sure if you tried the Holiday Inn in Brookline but it's right on the C branch of the green line and not at all far from Fenway. Alternatively, you could try the Courtyard in Brookline which is a few blocks down from the Holiday inn (further from Fenway but also on the C branch and right in Coolidge Corner.) Lastly, you might try the Newton Marriott which offers a free shuttle to Riverside station. And yes, I should think you'd be able to find parking at Riverside without too much of a problem. You might even be able to get further in.

Have fun!!!

Just a point of clarification. The MBTA, in it's infinite wisdom, has a stop called 'Fenway' which is actually further away from Fenway Park than the Kenmore stop (which is accessbile via all Green line branches except the 'E.') Kenmore is an easier walk, and it's impossible to get lost. Just follow the crowds. Also, be prepared for some VERY crowded trains there and back (although if you board at Riverside, you have a much better chance of getting a seat - at least on the way inbound.)

Or board at Government Center before the hordes that will be getting off the Orange and Red Lines and changing onto the Green Line to go the Pak. ;)

Which means U could stay at the Millennium Hotel, it's close to the Green Line at Government Center, and it's close to Fanueil Hall, which your son might like with the various street artists. And across the street is a new park, with fountains for kids to play in, and the Aquarium is just down the street.

I've never stayed there, but the reviews don't seem too bad.

Seconding Brookline suggestions above ... but there are also a number of Bed and Breakfasts in the Back Bay (am sure you could google more) - more Boston flavor, close to the Copley Sq station (3 stops to Kenmore), and also to the Charles River (walking, sailing lessons) and several tourist attractions. While in Boston, may I suggest the Duck Tours - they leave from the Pru in the back bay, I took a young nephew on it, and he loved it!

Response by poster: Thanks guys
Most of the specific suggestions are already booked (I forgot about it being labor day weekend), but if I can get parking at riverside, I don't have to be within walking distance :-)
