Alternative to Soulseek

Can the hive recommend a good alternative to Soulseek?

My version seems much more creaky than it used to and the inventory more empty each time I use it

Are you that fixed on just dropping Soulseek? The version you have might be so old that a lot of newer clients might just refuse to connect to it-- and I'm pretty sure that the servers are version-specific to a certain extent.
I would do an uninstall and install the newest version-- it's hard to beat Slsk for finding rarer music.

I used to use slsk, until I was turned on to Demonoid.

I logged into Soulseek a few weeks ago to find a message about how they were periodically shutting down their old server in order to prod people to migrate to the new 'test' one using version 157 NS xx

Switched to that and all good once more. Soulseek is still my method of choice for finding good, new, rare music after what must be getting on for 5 years.
