Alternatives to Clearsight

Are there any less expensive alternatives than Clear Sight that would allow one to capture and analyze VOIP calls in near real time? We're looking for something in the $25k range. Rolling our own with open source software is a viable alternative, and I'd like recommendations in that area, as well as commercial software. We do a fairly large volume of voip calls (hundreds per second), so we need something fairly robust, but we aren't verizon or anything, so don't necessarily need really heavy iron. TCPdump & wireshark is NOT a workable alternative, though :)

It would help to know why TCPdump and wireshark are not workable solutions (performance?, configuration?, support? pre-built analysis and reports?).
Have you checked out any of Agilent's products? Maybe this one? I think it runs around 15k.

NETQoS/NetVoyant is the market leader in this area.

You might be able to do this by routing all calls through an Asterisk server set up to do just this.
