Event listing software or service.

Recommend to me event listing software or services for a website, that can list events by categories, allows user submitted listings, and is easily customizable. Bonus points if this can be easily integrated with Wordpress.

I'm looking for something like LA Weekly or most major newspapers entertaiment sections use.

Cheap or free always preferred! ;)

I felt so bad upon noticing that no one answered this that I looked into it.

I don't think it allows user-submitted listings, but there's the WordPress Events Calendar plugin. There's also this one, which features 'user-level management,' which suggests that you might be able to allow any registered user to submit them. (Assuming that's what you want.)

If you wanted to go beyond WordPress plugins, FreshMeat is my choice. (People always seem to think it's a porn site when they first hear the name, but I assure you, it's a popular software-tracking site. Probably 90%+ of everything there is OpenSource.)
