Question: Help!! I can't take the podcast withdrawal.

Why am I suddenly not able to access the iTunes store from Europe?

I created an iTunes store account in the US, which I've been using without incident in Eastern Europe for about a year for downloading podcasts. A few days ago, the connection to the store started timing out, every time. I moved about a week ago, but I had been able to access the store from my new location--both over wireless and PPPoE--up until the time this problem began, so it shouldn't be an issue with the new connection. I've also remained logged in.

How can I regain access? Podcasts are my main news source, and I'm getting twitchy without them ...

You'll probably have to change your country in iTunes. I recently had the same problem, and changing it from the United States to United Kingdom worked for me.

I've live in Europe since 1997, but used a US credit card / billing address as early on Apple wouldn't accept foreign addresses. Perhaps one month ago iTunes stopped working for me as well, and I changed over to a UK based credit card / billing address and things were fine afterwards.

Mutant: Is there a way to do this, when I can't actually access the iTunes store?

I'm also fairly certain I've never attached a credit card to this account, as the only things I download are free podcasts. Would this make any difference?
Hmmm - not really sure on both counts - why not try emailing them? I've gotten emails from iTunesStoreSupport@apple.com that asked for more details on my problem. I figured it out before they got back to me (about 24 hours later), but they might be able to help you.
