Well, at first this looked like astroturf, but since the series in question is over a year old...

Seems like it was sponsored by DirectTV.

From just googling "Project myworld" we learn that the show is broadcast in the USA by The 101, which is a sort of entertainment channel created by the entertainment production arm of DirecTV. The show was created by Asylum Entertainment, which also produced "30 most outrageous celebrity feuds" and the DVD extras for "Minority Report". The program is exec produced by Shaina Fewell, who is two months younger than me (I am 28), and who has also produced "National Lampoon's Boobies" and played "The Hot Senior" in "National Lampoon's Van Wilder." Shaina is also one of the lead documentary stars of "Project MyWorld", if that gives you any indication to its content reality. In fact, on IMDB it lists three of the four women on the show as exec producers. It looks like Shaina Fewell and Renee Intlekofer met on the set of "Ghosts of Genius", a Janis Joplin biopic in 2003. In that film, Shaina was a producer and Renee was an associate producer.

Oh - also, not sure about the timeline of this show but from a quick google I know that the three main actresses were also the creators/executive producers. So until DirectTV picked it up I'd guess they were self-funded somehow.
