[Mousepad Filter] Help me find a new mousepad! Hopefully free!

Hey Guys! I need some advice on a mouse pad for my computer table. The setup im using now -This Setup- sometimes makes my Logitech laser mouse jump around even though I have used the same wax paper over wooden and glass surfaces. I think the little holes in the keyboard table are messing it up. Can you guys suggest any mouse pads (hopefully free lying around the house) that would give good tracking and also are nice to the touch? I don't mind the Waxpaper just not over this holey surface. Thanks!
I'll second the legal pad. If you like what you have just slip a piece of paper under it, or print out a picture/art/inspirational phrase, whatever and slide it between your paper and the desk.

Seconding the paper pad. It makes the best notepad too. You can also just tape 2 or 3 sheets and add the wax paper to make it smoother.

I was just dropping in to recommend paper too! I use a spiral-ring sketch pad. this has a nice feel (tooth) and gives lots of sizes to choose from. Newsprint pads also work well.

I use a clipboard (that brown particle stuff) for my optical mouse in work. After a few months of use, it's very smooth.

ditto on using a pad of paper or a clipboard (even turned over and clipped to the drawer)
If you want to get funny about it, that looks almost the size of a Ouija board.

My laptop lives on my bed (I alternate between mouse/touch pad) And ANYTHING makes a good mouse pad. Well almost. Slick/hard surfaces not so much. Strangely really soft things can work just fine too, you just kinda make a nest in it. Though sitting at a desk might be different? A crisply folded pillow case or tea towel. Whatever? Just try stuff, sometimes I'm surprised by how well some random thing on my bed works. (Cats are no good...)
But then maybe I'm just used to it? If I start to get a wrinkle I just push it out taut again with my thumb without even thinking about it. My mouse is not large at all either which makes that a really simple move. Meh? Just try stuff?
