Question: London Fright Night

Where's Haunted that I can run around late at night in London?

Perhaps an abandoned building, maybe a part of a park or a street. Not looking to break in anywhere, but I guess I could hop a fence.
Basically want to go with a group of friends run around and get scared, but with a genuine story that we could read about beforehand. I will also accept generally scary looking places (spooky, not crime-ridden).

Thanks.

I'd highly recommend London Walks. They list a bunch of different ghost-themed walks. I've done Ghosts of the Old City and parts of that were indeed quite creepy. I can also recommend their Jack the Ripper walk, featuring the incomparable Ripperologist Donald Rumbelow.

I don't know how much stock I put into this, but this website is really thorough with what they do. The Shadlowlands: Haunted Places - United Kingdom

As another data point, you can go to a free taping (or I guess a broadcast, if it's actually live - I haven't seen the show) of Most Haunted Live, which may or may not provide some thrills. See the SRO Audiences website for info on getting tickets for this month.

It's quite easy to get into Abney Park Cemetary at night. There may even still be a big hole in the wall to the left of the Egyptian revival entrance. It's not "known" to be haunted AFAIK, but an Amy Winehouse video was shot there. Also, it's a popular cruising spot for men and there are occasionally mischievous youths on one mind-altering drug or another wandering around at night. So it can be quite scary indeed.

If anywhere in London is haunted by hungry ghosts, it's Tyburn Gallows.

Highgate Cemetery after dark would be frankly, terrifying.

Haunted London suggests that the Tower of London is simply infested with ghosts but there's probably too many tourists and soldiers there to really get the willies...
