Where to camp near St. Louis?

Where can I go camping near St. Louis?

There are only a few things I would prefer for any site:

1) I would be biking to the location, so it would have to be within 25 to 30 miles of my home in University City.

2) It would hopefully be free.

There are group campsites at the Tyson end of the Chubb trail - not sure if they would let you pitch a tent all by yourself, but it might be worth checking out.
