Mozilla Thuderbird glitch

I use Mozilla Thunderbird for e-mail but, beginning about a week ago, although people received and continue to receive e-mails from me that are ok, when I open the same e-mails in my "send" file to review them, they're either blank or a jumble of code, often, related to e-mails other than what I just opened. Help!

I've run into this exact problem and if I remember correctly it was easily fixed after I Googled and found some notes somewhere about it, which of course I'm not able to track down this time... I think all I had to do was backup the profile folder per the mozilla.org instructions then reinstall Thunderbird.
