Question: Portable sheet-fed scanners

Portable sheet-fed scanners: I'm going to be running around all over the place this semester, and I would like to reduce my dependence on paper. This earlier thread mentions the Visioneer portable sheet-fed scanner, which runs $200, but I'd like to go cheaper - specifically, I have found the Pentax DSMobile for $100. Does anyone have any positive or negative experiences with portable scanners? I only plan to scan grayscale, so I don't care about resolution, but I do care about speed.

I have had nothing but trouble with sheet-fed anything - fax machines, scanners, and cut-sheet paper in z-fold dot-matrix printers (back in the day).

If you need a scanner, what about one of the thinner flatbed models? That Canon LiDE has a list price of $49, so you get to save a few dollars too.

Recently, I've been doing a lot of software architecture using a whiteboard. I use my digital camera to take 640x480 pictures, and upload them to the powerbook. I'm just recording my work, and don't run any OCR software. But this is much faster, and easier, than doing the same design work on paper, scanning, and then reducing resolution down to a reasonable level.
