You're not the mute button! Stop it!

The left control key on my keyboard has suddenly started toggling the mute on my master volume. How do I make it stop?

I'm running Windows XP on a Dell Dimension desktop, if it makes a difference.

I have a keyboard at work that has a "Function Lock" key or something. It makes the F1-F12 keys do things other than what I expect when I turn it on accidentally. Anything like that on yours?

Best answer: You might have gotten liquid in it. You could try washing it, but it might be easier to just get a new keyboard.

Best answer: Plug a different keyboard in to see if the problem goes away- is it one of those keyboards with the media control buttons across the top? Probably a bad keyboard.

Response by poster: No, no function lock and no media control buttons. I'll try plugging another keyboard in tomorrow and see what happens.

Response by poster: Yup, looks like the keyboard had gone bad. Thanks for the help!
