Where is the Iraq benchmarks report?
July 17, 2008 5:53 AM   RSS feed for this thread Subscribe

Where can I find the recent government report that claims that Iraq has achieved 15 of 18 benchmarks set for its political development?

Recent news stories have reported that the White House sent a report to Congress claiming that 15 of 18 Congressional benchmarks for Iraq have been met. I have seen a few stories that attribute the report to the Pentagon, or to the US Embassy in Baghdad.

Regardless of the source, I am unable to find the actual administration report to read it for myself. Can anyone point me to this elusive document, please?

Thanks, but that is last year's report. The current report was apparently released in May of 2008.

Yeah, duh. I got so excited by July that I missed the year. Maybe it gives you leads though.

I've already checked the list of White House press releases for May, and can find nothing.

This was about all I could find - and it's 12 of 18, from April. This looks related.

Those are good finds, cashman, and thanks. I'm still hoping to find something that clearly and explicitly makes the "15 of 18 benchmarks met" claim.

I emailed the Washington Post and the reporter linked me here. Pretty sure it's in there in appendix II somewhere.

I'll look through that, cashman, but that's the GAO report that more or less refutes the Administration's claim. I'm looking for the supposed May 2008 report that makes the original "15 of 18 benchmarks met" claim.

Thanks.

Yes, that was my fault. The article said it was a 9-page report, and like a fool, I linked you to a 94-page report. I have the report (it was in the same correspondence noted above) - check your mefimail.

Very cool, cashman, and thanks heaps. I can't access yousendit just now due to a firewall at work, but I will check this tonight.

I think that's what I was looking for, cashman. Thanks again.
