iphone 2.0 software

I just downloaded a whole mess of cool apps for my ipod touch, but can't play any of them without the iphone 2.0 software. Where do I download it from??? I can't find it anywhere on the apple.com site, or anywhere else on the net for that matter....
When iTunes is launched and your iPod is connected to the computer, select the iPod and the main "Summary" page has a section called "Version." Click on "Check for Update" and it should take you to the ITMS update page (it's a ~200MB download and costs $9.99 plus tax).
On the first day, I got a variety of error messages when trying to update the firmware -- sometimes it told me the store was unavailable, sometimes it told me my firmware was already the latest version, and sometimes it just would timeout when connecting to the store. I think those issues have been sorted, but if something like that happens, it's not you, it's the servers.

Make sure you have a stable internet connection (i.e. not the flaky wifi at your local cafe) when you update. As mentioned, it's a big (200+ MB) update, and you don't want to lose connection. Leave the iPod plugged in during the update process - don't unplug it until it's completely done, or you can brick it.
Having said that, the App Store rocks. Being able to use the iPod as a wifi remote has been worth the cost of the upgrade by itself. Then there's Pandora, an actual AIM client, and a bunch more.

um, how hard did you look? googling "ipod touch update 2.0" took me right to the "what's new?" apple.com page with the buy link. anyway, danb already linked it for you.
