Change gchat tone?

Is it possible to change the message notification tone in gchat?

My partner and I have our computers in the same room, and when he gets incoming messages, the sound makes me think I'VE gotten one. It's distracting.

Is it possible to change the tone on my gchat so I have something distinctive to listen for? I've looked in settings but don't see anything.

Use pidgin and you can set sounds for anything, chat on almost every network and avoid that browser based nonsense.

Adium for OS X if you're on a Mac.

Seconding Pidgin. It's great. And I think it's related to Adium in its code at some point.
