Looking for quality art print/commission for an anniversary present - any good sources?

Hi everyone -

I'm looking for an anniversary pressie for my indie art obsessed hubby - it's our 7th, and we've had a weird year, so I'm thinking of a lucky 7/bad 13 kind of theme.

Can you rec either a young artist for a commission or a good site for this kind of stuff? His tastes are:

- banksy
- www.chrisbishop.com
- robots
- blix
- show posters
- the obey guy
- http://www.gferrand.com/

thanks!

Why not just contact the artists you've listed and see if they are interested in a commission?

Alternately, why not check out etsy.com to see if there's anyone selling prints you like. Most of the people there are young and it seems common to offer commissions (this is usually noted on the profile page or sometimes in the description of specific prints).

Your profile says you're frequently in Chicago. Go talk to the folks at Contemporary Art Workshop-- they have hundreds of young artists on tap.

A commission is going to be pretty expensive. I would look into getting a fine art print.

The "Obey Guy" has prints that appear on eBay all of the time. Search for "Shepard Fairey".

For the show poster route, try going to ExpressoBeans.com and searching for his favorite bands to bring up a list of their prints. When you find something you think he'd like, you can try to get the actual print by (a) the artist or band's website, (b) eBay, or (c) seeing if anyone on ExpressoBeans has it available for sale or trade.

You can also browse ExpressoBeans to find other art prints. Looking at their top-rated pieces may be a good place to start. A word of warning, some of the stuff you will find on there is highly sought-after, and may be pricey.
