How can I make Firefox work like it did before Leopard.

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.14 on a second-generation Macbook on which I just installed Leopard. When I was using Tiger, I could simply go to a URL by typing "apple" or "metafilter" into the address bar. Now I have to enter the .com/.org/etc. at the end, or I get taken to Embarq's annoying search page. How can I fix this?

If you have no objection to updating to Firefox 3 (final release this Tuesday) you'll have your (even more) intelligent address bar. Really amazing.

Opt out of the Embarq search page

What dcjd said. This is Embarq's fault.

Thanks, everyone. dcjd fixed it. I seemed to have problems in the past getting that setting to "stick."

Regarding Firefox 3, has anyone had sucess using TabMixPlus or Adblock with it?

Thanks again, everyone.

Adblock Plus works just swimmingly with FF3.

As dawson said, all will be well with add-ons next week or the week after with the release of FF3.

TabMixPlus works fine on FF3 RC1-3, but you need to install the developer build of it in order for it to work in FF3. I've been using it since FF3 RC1, and so far I havent noticed any problems with it (and I'm a heavy tab user...most of the time, I have 75-100 tabs open at once!)

If you hit Ctrl+enter, it puts in the www and the .com for you, by the way.

Like Jim said, Ctrl+Enter for .com, and
Shift+Enter for .net
Ctrl+Shift+Enter for .org
