What does this sign on my toiletries mean?

I noticed a while ago, a small logo which seems to appear on almost all of my toiletries. It resembles a simple pot with the lid raised up, and inside the pot it has a number (I seem to remember the number always being a multiple of 6) and the letter M. What does this sign mean? I googled this and tried to find out but got no luck, and it occasionally bugs me while I brush my teeth or wash my face!

It means the number of months the product is good/fresh after it has been opened. I'm not sure if it's required here yet but I believe it is required in Europe.

I'm in the UK. That makes sense beckish, thanks. Now if it said how many months you had left till it went off, that would be useful!

That was fascinating. I had no idea any of that was a concern. I have some many years old makeup that apparently I shouldn't be hauling out once a year when I have to go to a wedding.
