Project ideas for a nine year old boy.

I need some project ideas for me to work on with a nine year old Spanish boy.

I'm working three hours a day this summer with a Spanish family who want me to look after their nine year old boy. I'll be working three hours a day. The main aim for them having me is to practice english with him, and to ease their workload.

I'm looking for ideas for projects to work on with him. Any suggestions will be welcome...

Letterboxing is fun for that age group. It is active, he can work on following directions and you get to see places you might not know are even in your area.

Cooking would be good, follow a recipe, shop for ingredients, measuring, even adding prices.

Family Fun magazine tends to have a lot of those little quick activities. An example is scientific experiments (kitchen chemistry like baking soda and vinegar, grow crystals by making rock candy, etc).

Find out what he is interested in, take a trip to the library to find a book on the subject and read it together. Maybe he's interested in comic books, write one with him.

I'll keep thinking.
