Autofocus on a new camera

Help me figure out my new Canon dSLR camera's 9-point autofocus feature!

I just bought a Canon 5D, and one of the features I was looking forward to is the "multistick" autofocus point selector. I've used other people's 5Ds before, and theirs has always been set so that all one must do is push the stick in the appropriate direction, and the AF sets. On the factory settings, though, there's a more involved method of first clicking something else, and then selecting the AF point.

I would be eternally grateful for assistance in this matter.

Sadly, even though I don't own a Canon 5D-- I'm pretty sure it's custom function 13 that sets the mode of operation for that.

According to this DPReview list of Custom Functions, you'll want to set Custom Function 13 to option 1 for that.

Happy shooting!

I am holding a 5D in my hands and can confirm that heeeraldo's advice is correct.

Remember that custom function menus only show up in certain modes; Tv/Av/M/P/etc, not the sports or portrait or what-have-you modes.
