Which short story anthologies are actually worth reading?
I've fallen back in love with the short story, and that has driven me to the anthology. As a boy, I remember the short story being the pinnacle of art, with Bradbury at its peak and so forth. And I remember happily plumbing many "short short" volume filled with ultra-short stories.
But there are just too many anthologies, and I don't know where to start. So which short story collections are truly excellent, truly worthy of a few inches of my precious shelf space?

Ascendancies: The Best of Bruce Sterling
I got it last week and am reading a story a day.
Absolutely wonderful.
Even if I have already read most of them over the past 20 years, it's a delight to read them back to back and see how Sterling is exploring cultures, styles, angles and futures. A classic.
