how can i use my apple remote in parallels?

i'm trying to use my apple infrared remote to control windows xp programs through parallels. I want to control netflix instant, specifically, but it seems that as long as osx is running the windows machine doesn't recognize the remote. i've tried running eventghost but as i said, if windows doesn't even recognize the device, then how can i utilize it?

(Never tried this)

When you're in windows in parallels, click on the USB symbol on the bottom right of the parallels window. A drop down will list the currently attached USB devices to your mac. Clicking on any of them will "transfer control" of the device from the Mac to Windows (e.g. if it were a USB card reader, the disk would unmount in the Mac and appear in Windows.)

I am pretty sure the remote IR sensor is a USB device to the system. Is one of the listed devices "Apple Remote"? If so, click it and then install whatever software you need on the Windows side to understand the remote.

alrighty...that worked, but now windows is having trouble with the device. i'm getting "this device cannot start [code 10]" in the properties of the device manager. think i'm gonna throw in the towel on this one.
