I'm not from NYC, is there a street name that sounds like hugo? I got an address over the phone and clearly should have asked how to spell the name, anyone have an idea?

Is the street in Manhattan? Queens? Brooklyn? the Bronx? Do you have a cross street, or a zip code?

Houston St. (pronounced [how-stun]) immediately springs to mind for a street name starting with h and not immediately recognizable -- but I doubt that's the street you're looking for.

There's a Hubert Street that (with my limited knowledge) seems to be south of TriBeCa. It intersects with Hudson. But honestly, we'd need to know more about what area of NYC you're in.

Ludlow on the Lower East Side?
Horatio or Barrow in the West Village?

Is the address for a residence or a business? Could you use a reverse-lookup on the phone number or Google Local search the business name?

Yeah, the zip code, or at least a general area, would be a huge narrowing factor.

There is a Humboldt Street in Brooklyn, on the edge of Williamsburg.

11222 is Brooklyn.

11222 = Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Ludlow Street = Lower East Side, Manhattan

In Greenpoint, the streets from Ash to Quay are in alphabetical order, and only "H" street I see on the map is Huron. Another possibility is Humboldt Street, but I'm struggling to see how "Humboldt" could sound like "Hugo" over the phone.

Jewel Street and Newell Street are both in 11222 and could sound like Hugo. You can Google Maps 11222 and see if any other candidates stick out.
