I Can't Dress Myself

Where can I find inexpensive, wrinkle-free, short sleeve men's shirts?

I need help finding shirts. I have the freedom to dress however I want at work. I like to dress nicer than casual, but probably not quite business casual. For my own personal reasons I can't stand long-sleeve shirts. Also, neither me nor my wife ever seem to find time to iron. This makes finding shirts that work for me quite difficult. Target used to have a brand that had some rayon in it, that was really comfortable and didn't wrinkle, but they don't have it anymore.

I know that I can get dress shirts that have been treated so they won't wrinkle, but I prefer shirts that are more casual than that. However, I am open to considering lots of options.

I live in Tucson, AZ, but I am willing to buy shirts online. Also, I am a big guy so I don't wear fitted shirts. I need XL or 2XL.

I buy a lot of my clothes off of Ebay. Search for Poly/Cotton blends and never bid more than $20.

Don't get into a bidding war over stupid brand name knock off clothing. Stick to a certain style and get to know it. If you get a shirt you like, check to see what else that seller has - they are often getting rid of a closet.

Mark's Work Wearhouse sells a lot of that type of thing. It's a Canadian chain but they have a web site at marks.com

Goodwill or other thrift stores. I always seem to see a dozen or so blue Stafford short-sleeve oxford shirts in every Goodwill or Salvation Army store I go into. My favorites are the Arnold Palmer ones, though. Arizona must be a goldmine of lightly used golf shirts...

LLBean would like to be your friend, also.

Response by poster: These are some good suggestions. One of the things I liked about the shirts I used to get at Target was the feel of them. Because they had some rayon in them, they felt different than the cotton blends. Do you know of any other shirts like that?

I have several Van Heusen shirts that fit this bill, dressy, not dressy and in between. I really like their wrinkle free button up short sleeve shirts for office work. JC Penny has all you need, but if you're near an outlet mall they always have a store there too.

REI has some shirts like that, kind of maybe. I'm wearing one now, in fact. I think it might be all-poly (but the modern techy kind that "breathes" or "wicks" or whatever). I took it out of the dryer this morning, shook it, and voila, no wrinkles.

Also check rei's outlet, since I bought all of my similar shirts on sale because the idea of paying $50 for a shirt appalls me. But YshirtMMV.

This may not help you in the short-run, but a local outdoor shop has a "tent sale" twice a year in which they sell all kinds of stuff ridiculously cheap. Columbia Sportswear stuff is expensive as hell at regular prices, but when you can get 'em for 10-15 a pop, they're awesome. They also tend to be, since they're geared for outdoor use over multiple days, rather wrinkle-resistant.

I have a closet full of Van Heusen business casual shirts that I can hang up right out of the dryer and never need to iron (it's the line that says "Wrinkle Free" on the tag). I can often take them out of a suitcase on a trip and hang them up without ironing too. (Their shirts with higher % natural fiber are nice too but usually require ironing and are not as stain resistant.) Also, I second the Van Heusen outlet rec for the savings factor and the ability to see a shirt in person before buying it (which is why I hesitate buying shirts online).

We get our work shirts here
I like the #102; it has two pockets, I never iron them!

I just bought a bunch of these. They are great! Only $9.75 for short sleeve, and they don't have really long tails like the dickies shirts (unless you want that).

I think Ross and TJ Max will have what you are looking for. Usually the shirts you are looking for say something like "wrinkle-free" on the tag. I was at a Ross today and saw a ton of XL short sleeves at r=very reasonable prices. What about polo shirts? I wear a ton of polo shirts in the summer.
